we need a little more time for additional polish, and to balance and iterate on some interlocking pieces

I mean, could that be any more vague?
Sure, I think that in the end, this is good news, because rushing it out the door is never a good plan, but still…
ETA: and this prepatch date… the 13th? Could that be any more obvious? FFXIV patch 5.35 is out that day too.
Thanks for the update blizz. Like everyone on this thread I also agree polish is more important than a rushed, unfinished, and unpolished game. Great decision blizz and keep the communication going! This makes me look forward to shadowlands even more!
They are called black out days… if you work in retail any time off request close to a major end of year holiday like thanksgiving christmas new years etc. youre gonna get DENIED paid time off or unpaid time off.
Many of us in retail already had time off for original release.
Yeah but now, i took time off of work for that week and bam… not happening anymore… it sucks how the developers of blizzard didn’t know that the game wasn’t ready a month or two ago, before giving out some bogus time to satisfy the community, should’ve been pushing out correct information to us. They say they’re working with the community, but that’s only in terms of gameplay. They don’t give a damn about us taking time off for launch day or any of that.
This is so crazy disappointing. How is the exp with no hero class and no new races the most complex. I keep hoping that this exp with have covenant races be playable and actually make it decent.
Imagine getting hyped and resubbing for an expansion thats not coming. What a sham.
While I am happy that the game is getting more time to be polished, still pretty upset they waited this late to postpone it, like other people who booked the date off from work this kinda sucks. I hope I still have enough time to reschedule it
Because that has never happened before. Never before has a situation popped up in which a server merger happened, and then people lost actual levels on their character, among other things, such as losing BoP items and the like. This created a problem, one never seen before, and set a new precedent for problems in the future. If Khadgar’s problem wasn’t resolved prior to SL launch, we have a huge problem on our hands, not just for their realm, but other realms as well should something else go wrong. That’s first.
Second, again, in the middle of a global pandemic, most people should have known the SL launch date was ambitious. Further beta testing showed it wasn’t going to be easily fixed.
The point I’m making is that you constantly attack Blizzard for their inability to get something done. But you work in this field, as you admitted. You have to know that sometimes, especially in a situation like Covid’s, things aren’t going to go 100% right.
Once again. For the final time before I go to work, relax. It’s gonna be just fine.
I would put some of my eggs in this basket for sure.
Remember when they did that backend update and a bunch of stuff started acting strange? Probably related to it in some ways.
Live and Test environments never behave the same no matter how hard you try to make them.
I have to agree with this, it was such an incredible bug that there’s no way it didn’t set off every alarm bell in the company. That would definitely be a sign that something isn’t working right and the release isn’t going to work.
While I am not surprised, what I can say is that I am extremely disappointed. I cannot understand what is occurring with Blizzard leadership around WoW - but I can clearly state that your content releases are not acceptable for a monthly subscription + large content release price.
I stopped being a “full time” player of WoW years ago, I sub and unsub just as quickly because Blizzard has made it clear their content releases are weak and prone to being reduced, missed, or shoved backwards.
Blizzard needs to take a hard look at itself and what it expects from WoW - missing another massive content release schedule has shown once again very ineffective and poor leadership.
Much love to the devs and the hard times that have come from COVID - but your leadership is drowning you.
