I’m not gonna be that guy that says, “well can’t you reschedule”, or “well your job sucks get a better job”.
I will be that guy that says, “yeah it sucks, you lost this round. But given the world circumstances and that delays happen, you should have factored this risk into your time off plan and been at least cognizant it could happen.”
TBH I had hoped this would be the case if the bugs / imbalances / other issues couldn’t be worked out in time, so I’m glad to hear it. Take the time you need and please keep us updated.
I’m glad to hear it’s being delayed. I would rather have a polished expansion that’s ready to go, than one that is rushed out the door and is a mess. Thank you, Blizzard for making that decision. I know that can’t have been easy to do. Take the time you need to get it right.
Unfortunately, I probably won’t be able to reschedule time off because of the nature of my job, so I’m actually pretty pissed about this. I want the game to be good but I’m convinced now that the staff just aren’t lining up their ducks in a row anymore and I feel like this is symptomatic of a bigger problem at the company.
Ok. I understand why people are happy. I also appreciate that you took the decision to delay to make it a quality expansion.
BUT! At the same time I’m super pissed. You had a huge window where you could have announced a launch. The fact you chose such an early date instead of Nov/Dec shows you were rushing and ready to release an incomplete game (glad you didn’t)
Also plenty of us here are adults. Me and all my mates have booked MONTHS in advance for leave to play a new expansion like we have since release. We CANNOT just change this at the dime of the hat and are all pissed.
We all feared the Oct release date was pushing it, fearing this would happen. So I’m glad you acknowledge you need more time. Please remember for the future your release date is much more time critical for your players than other games (looking at you cyberpunk).
One: It shows that you still care about quality
-means you didn’t finish on time
Two: It shows you’re willing to risk the ire of ‘some’ of the base
-what risk? is the safest option since the client wont see what is happening or know when will have the product in his hands.
Three: It shows that you seem to have learned from past happenings.
-if they haven’t learned in 15 years and all previews expansions they wont apply that learning in this one.
That must have been a tough decision, and I’m sure not one that was taken lightly. We look forward to your releasing a patch you’re satisfied with, when it’s ready. Thank you for your work and for keeping players in the loop.
I’m not one for posting on forums…but I feel compelled to say something this time around. It’s notoriously hard to get corporations to move off schedule.
For what it’s worth, thank you for bumping this release date forward. It won’t fix everything, but it will surely help give devs precious time to work on balancing.
p.s. Sorry to all those who can’t reschedule that time-off block
