[A/N RP] <The Duchy of Sun Bay> Now With a Less Confusing Name

☞ The Duchy of Sun Bay ☜

A proclamation is distributed throughout the Alliance and Thalassian cities, territories, and towns.

With the end of the Fourth War, many of our kin believe now is the time to look to our own future. In exile, there is no safety. With just a few thousand of us remaining, our species is on the verge of annihilation. Make no mistake, the remaining power of Quel’Thalas must be reborn and re-centralized. Whether you are a Quel’dorei, Ren’dorei, or Sin’dorei, it is time for our people to be reunited as one - or else we will no longer exist on this plane.

We will not remain exiles any longer. We will not serve a foreign king. We choose to bear the weight of our own path. We choose to return home. We choose a new name and new leadership.

If you wish to see the glory of our people restored, kinfolk, join us. Join us at Sun Bay.

☞ Overview: ☜

The Duchy of Sun Bay is a Thalassian focused RP community and guild on Moon Guard (RP-US), which endeavors to provide an immersive, inclusive, and enduring roleplay experience for those who have a passion and drive for all things Elven. Forged by those with a wealth of experience in the RP community, we’re actively looking for equally driven and energetic roleplayers to join us as we forge forwards on our path.

We’re engaged in both long and short-form campaigns and open world roleplay alike, including the recent inclusion of political narratives through the development of a new system of government. We strive to engage the community and help sustain the server’s hunger for deep and impactful story.

Some may recognize us by our former name: the Eversong Accord. After a long hiatus, we return with a new name, but much of the same conceptual ideas and many of the same members.

☞ Sun Bay ☜

Sun Bay is a bustling city, but it didn’t always begin that way. Just beyond its walls lie vast stretches of hilly grasslands, a buffer zone that separates the city from the surrounding wilderness. Once you travel just over a mile outside the city limits, you reach small crofter’s villages that provide resources to keep the city sustainable. These clusters of smallholdings have populations of anywhere from a dozen to three score, and the farmers here provide food crops for the city from wheat and corn to flax. Sun Bay is enclosed by 40-foot high walls that stretch around the entire city, protecting it from bandits and other outside threats. These walls are a great feat of engineering, with a guard tower every 250 feet. Recently rebuilt at great cost, nearly 900,000 gold, it’s nearly a full year’s worth of taxes! The city’s Commercial District, Starlight Exchange, has many of the vendors one would expect from a city. The streets are lively, crowded with merchants and customers, and the shops are arrayed along the walkways. It’s a vibrant and colorful place with all kinds of exotic goods and services available. You’ll find everything from enchanted weapons and armor at Thaelynn Sunforge’s Magical Armory to imported spices and delicacies at Serandor’s Exquisite Provisions. Vythan’s Velvet Stitching specializes in exotic textiles and clothing. Sylvaria Moonshimmer’s Jewels is the place to go for fine jewelry and gemstones, and Faelara Dawncaster’s Alchemical Emporium has magical reagents and potions. Elandor Leafshade’s Artisan Woodworks is where you’ll find expertly crafted furniture and woodworks. Tarneth Sailwind’s Maritime Supplies provides nautical equipment and shipbuilding services, and Lirena Sunscribe’s Arcane Library has rare books and scrolls on history, magic, and culture. Finally, Kaelis Brightsteel’s Industrial Foundry provides high-quality metals and machinery. On market days, every other Friday, the farmers bring their goods to sell in the city. Traveling merchants come on that day as well, and musicians, jugglers, and other entertainers play the crowds. It’s a festive atmosphere, with everyone out and about, chatting, laughing, and trading. The streets are busy, and there’s always something new to see or buy. The harbor of Sun Bay is a bustling hub of activity, filled with ships of all shapes and sizes. The scent of saltwater and fish lingers in the air, mixed with the sound of seagulls and creaking ropes. Six galleons, three at sea and three stationed at an island outpost, provide an additional layer of protection to the city. The island fortress, accessible only by boat, is a formidable sight with its high walls and sturdy towers, manned by skilled archers and sailors. The residential districts of Sun Bay are a mix of housing options, ranging from the humble abodes of crofters to the opulent estates of the nobility. The houses and buildings are constructed of locally sourced materials, such as light-colored woods and nearly marble-colored slate. The walkways and roads are paved with the same type of stone as the city walls, but are polished to a smooth finish and lit with bright, clean arcane lamps that provide ample lighting.

The aesthetic of the city is one of function and form, with high, strong walls and defensible towers surrounding the city. The gates are heavily guarded by soldiers of the Phoenix Guard, standing watch day and night. The guard towers, situated every 250 feet along the walls, provide additional vantage points for spotting any potential threats. The bustling harbor and thriving residential districts are a testament to the thriving economy and skilled craftspeople that call Sun Bay home. In the harbor, fishmongers sell their fresh catches to merchants and chefs alike, while sailors tend to their ships and prepare for their next voyage. The island fortress is a place of constant activity, as ships come and go, and soldiers and sailors alike train and prepare for any eventuality. The residential districts offer a range of housing options, from multiplexes and apartments to single-family homes and noble estates of various sizes. Sun Bay is a city that exudes strength, prosperity, and community. From the hardworking crofters and skilled craftspeople to the noble elite and soldiers of the Phoenix Guard, everyone plays a vital role in the city’s success. The walkways and roads are always bustling with activity, and the Starlight Exchange provides a hub for commerce and entertainment. Whether one is a resident or a visitor, the city of Sun Bay never fails to impress. The estate of the ruling family, House Durore’shala, is situated at the highest point in Sun Bay, overlooking the harbor. It has strong walls and defensible towers, with a six-story holdfast of double-thick stone walls at its center. The holdfast houses the treasury, the family’s chambers, a granary and storehouse, kitchens, a private dining hall, and a guard barracks. It can only be accessed via a drawbridge. The government center is located on a plateau around House Durore’shala’s estate. It includes the Hall of Justice, the Council Chambers, the Amphitheater, and the Town Patrol’s headquarters. The area is paved with polished stones and illuminated with arcane lamps for a clean and bright aesthetic. The combined capitol district is grand in its own right, combining sturdy defense with elegance and sophistication. The precision with which everything is maintained makes it clear that this is a place of great importance to the people of Sun Bay.

☞ Branches and Divisions: ☜

The Duchy of Sun Bay is ever expanding and is broken into several ministries which contain unique branches. Below are the three ministries: defense, interior, and state.

♖ Ministry of Defense: The sword and shield of the Duchy, three captains lead semi-autonomous divisions which each employ the versatile skills and talents of the Thalassian people. Mages, healers, soldiers, and anyone willing to put their elbow grease to work for the good of their people will find purpose here. Events are often overlapping, offering a wide variety of content that is both highly tailored to your character’s niche, and also open to all - enabling collaborative interplay that spices up the story.

:eight_pointed_black_star: Ministry of Interior: A ministry for and of the people, commerce, justice, and national rebirth are all governed from within the Interior, and individuals rising up to serve in its esteemed ranks will find purpose and untold opportunities to help bring stability and order to the fledgling Duchy. Characters drawn to facilitating deep, engaging role play focused on everyday life within a city or town will feel right at home here.

☤ Ministry of State: The ministry of state oversees intelligence, diplomacy, and culture - addressing the foreign needs of the Duchy. As the new nation seeks to cement and expand its holdings, it will need to lean on allies, and will depend on sound intelligence in order to discern who it can trust. Making decisions on the all important question of “how do we unify the elven people” is going to be a key issue facing the state ministry, and only those with the stomach for debate and addressing hard questions will be able to carve out a name for themselves.

:balance_scale: The High Council: A body of democratically elected representatives, the members of the High Council serve to advise the Diarchs and function as a balance to their rule as they govern the burgeoning nation and oversee the rebirth of the unified Thalassian state. Councilors will be presented with a diverse slate of challenges which they’ll need to negotiate and politic their way through, offering an engaging opportunity to flex one’s skills in the public and political arena. Councilors will earn a special currency by completing challenge cards: scenarios that require the players to engage with other divisions, other guilds, and their fellow Councilors in order to get their task done.

Additional branches of government, officers, departments, and divisions, will be rolled out ad hoc, tied to player interest and demand. Seats on the Council are divided based on population, with one seat dedicated to the Quel’dorei, one seat dedicated to the Ren’dorei, one seat dedicated for the Sin’dorei, and (at this time) no seats unrestricted - and open for anyone eligible to run. Terms are four months long, and three elections are had each year.

☞ Who Do We Seek?: ☜

The Duchy is looking to recruit players who are committed to building an immersive, engaging, and inclusive community for Thalassian themed roleplay that keeps its focus facing forward. We are recruiting all Quel’dorei, Ren’dorei, and even Sin’dorei to join our efforts to help rebuild the High Home: Quel’Thalas.

☞ Do we accept other Alliance races? ☜

Non-Elven characters are welcome in the Duchy, providing they are willing to wear the order’s colors, and aid in its collective efforts. They are, however, limited to initiate rank and serve as mercenaries. They cannot attain citizenship, which is equivalent to membership.

You can contact any of our members in game for more information! We hope we’ll be seeing you soon!

☞ Do you do content? ☜

Yes! Some of us do weekly Rated BGs as a guild and we make it a point to get everyone who wants it their Elite Set (1800) via Rated BGs every season. We’ve never yet failed to do that. Many of us also Arena, do M+, and raid.

We’ve started doing teaching arenas and RBGs, as well as our weekly push groups. Our guild has a high concentration of 2400+ experience PvPers and we love to teach the rest of our membership. This is a friendly environment for learning.

That said, RP is our #1 priority. We’re all RPers here.

On Saturday, the elves of the Diarchy sat down with a splinter group of former Darkfallen and other outcasts from Thalassian society. The goal of the meeting was rapprochement and establishing a formal accord between the two groups.

It was successful. Despite the darkness that haunts the peoples of Quel’Thalas, the only way to move forward is to go together into a new future.

Thank you to Ael’akor and the good elveses in Eclipse Squadron for the RP! It was a pleasure. We can’t wait for what’s next.

Still an elf, still approving this message.

Hal’s loyalties are to the Argent Crusade, but out of curiosity, would you accept half elves?

We do! We LOVE half elves.

What are we doing, I wonder.

Do you accept those that are still learning the ropes of RP?

Let’s find a time to talk!

My mage has a huge interest in Quel’thalas and Thalassian history, having written her apprentice thesis on the history of elven magic. She even fell in love with a quel’dorei, though they did not reciprocate…

I’m really interested - i do have several Thalassian elves, but currently my RP main is my human mage. She’s an assistant professor with the Kirin Tor and has had a good relationship with the quel’dorei she grew up with in Dalaran.

You can reach out to me on discord at Aureate#7062 and we can schedule an interview or you can reach out to one of us ingame! Feel free to whisper a member to find a currently online officer, too.

If you have bad luck with rolls in events, you should join in on the fun to see who can roll the most 1s. I promise you won’t beat me!

Unrelated, if you RP a healer, you won’t find yourself without anything to do!

Of note, we also readily accept Horde characters. All of our events are outside of major cities and we make an effort to remain in neutral territories.
