There’s always that one dungeon that you hate (like Oculus). I remember there bbing a similar thing for random battlegrounds. A shame they took it way.
I think you are able to do this you click specific dungeon instead of random and you just click every box for all the dungeons you want and just leave the one you do not like leave it out so you can’t get it.
Well, a long time ago, you could do it on random BGs. The difference between sppecific and arandom dungeons is that rahdom gives you a juiciy xp bonus after completion, while the specific gives you less.
You don’t get the random bonus that way.
So you want the random bonus without doing a random dungeon? That doesn’t seem right.
There’s no harm in flagging one dungeon as an absolute no.
I sincerely despise a few dungeons, but I would be grateful to just be able to flag a specific one as a “No. Nuh-uh. Don’t want.”
There actually is. It can really drive up queue times and it screws over people that might need quests in the dungeon while leveling. This was a problem with PVP blacklisting.
You can do this but of course you lose the random loot and exp bonus. I think this would be useful information for them, as it would clearly indicate which dungeons people prefer not to visit (oculus, dire maul, pit of saron, etc).
This is of course assuming they wish to refine LFD rather than let it fester - remember we are still having to queue separately (and not concurrently) for WOTLK/BC and MoP/CATA. It’s stupid, given they cover the same level range.
I would LOVE to blacklist oculus on all of my alts that are still under 80… I am so sick and tired of all the bad groups I get in that dungeon who can’t grasp simple concepts… I got absolutely ticked off earlier today on my Zandalari Blood DK after getting oculus three times in a row with DPS who kept running in circles instead of grabbing a drake and clearly weren’t reading chat at all…
I’m not even joking when I say that I waited 10 minutes for 2 of the three DPS to grab a drake only for the healer to bail and then to STILL not grab a drake… I NEVER want to see that dungeon again in my life…
And I’ve been on a leveling spree on my low level alts lately… so I’ve had experiences exactly like this every single day for a solid week now.
Yet it was a thing with BGs. It isn’t as if people could pick a specific dungeon to do, as you seem to be implying. You would pick one you absolutely do not want to do, and it is still very random. That seems pretty right.
I feel extra guilty reading this post… because I have often queued for specifics to get those rarely-queued dungeon pops (Culling of Stratholme with its RP, Oculus, Halls of Stone with the Brann escort bit…). I swear I only do it for nabbing achievements! If people could flag out specifics from the random pop then a lot of content would get heavily excluded I imagine…
Except, historically, people tend to agree on what the “worst” dungeon is to do, as they did with which BG. This results in two negative consquences:
- One of the dungeons blizzard spends time designing and giving lore to goes basically untouched for the majority of the expansion, essentially wasting development time.
- The few people who decide to do said dungeon will have a devil’s time getting people in their group, and if they manage to, finding someone to replace a leaver (should that occur) becomes even harder.
They removed the ability to blacklist a BG. Blizzard obviously didn’t like the effect it had. And while yes, they moved the offending BGs into their own queue, they were also conceptually different to warrant the move. How is Tol Dagor conceptually different from Freehold?
With as little info as we have on the subject, like how many people would like this system, we can’t really judge who is right or wrong for being selfish. If it serves the majority, it seems like it would be the better way to go.
Looking at the positives, people have more choice over how they decide to waste their time, and the developers get a better idea of how to design dungeons.
