Okay, so there’s been several leaks and there’s nothing to be confirmed, but there’s a lot of evidence to suggest that there’s a timeskip either during or after SL. The Alliance leaks say it is “several years”, and the Horde leaks say the same. I am assuming - knowing Blizz - that a vagueness will be all we get with no set number. But this does raise some interesting questions for roleplay. With no set amount of time, we need to be flexible and not narrow things down so meticulously. And likewise have our ideas be malleable to be able to fit whatever headcanon time someone else imagines.
So I guess the question to ask is how will you handle this timeskip with your character(s), and what has your character or characters been up to in these “several years”?

Gen’s going to be a father.
No, I will not elaborate further.
A couple of my other characters are going to retire and be replaced by new, up-and-coming characters instead, either their children or extended family members who want to explore and make a name for themselves in a world where going H.A.M. on things is now heavily frowned on (The Horde) or get out and make some money because their entire society is either broke or getting there (The Alliance).

Honestly, I am surprised that the Alliance’s economy hasn’t gone into total collapse yet. Realistically it would have long ago, considering that there’s been non-stop war for like 30 years.
More reasons why Blizz needs to do better at consistent story telling. I really would love to know why they are so against time skips… it’s not like it’s a bad storytelling device.
“We just lost 2 whole generations fighting off the Scourge plus the farmlands in Lordaeron, but what the hell, lets go a head and throw non-existent troops at the Burning Legion, the Horde, Invade Northrend, Pandaria, the Broken Shore, attack the Naga, and chase after Sylvannas!”

I feel like this won’t elves much. It will be quite easy to RP that we have just come through a period of peace, of rebuilding…
But I’d be nervous if I played a human. Not only can a lot happen in 5-10 years, but the character also ages. If you played a 55 year old, will you now play them being over 60? 70? Are they still fit to fight, or as was mentioned above, will you retire that character?
Time skip is NOT confirmed, but it will be very interesting to see how folks would handle it.

All my characters are in their 30s, so if there’s only a few years, they would still be young enough by modern standards. Though I can’t imagine what their ptsd is like.

Oh another thing: how do you folks handle the expansions in relation to your characters? I know Blizz writes us off as “You’re The One, Neo” so we rush off to save the world every time… but that’s both ridiculous and unrealistic. But that’s them. What about you?
For myself, each character only experienced certain parts of the expansions if any, and they definitely weren’t the Big Hero, if they had any part of the overall story at all.
Like my Draenei Dalaran librarian has been to Northrend and the legion islands (does that place have an actual name other than broken shore?), and is more interested in possible ancient books and relics she might find than fighting off demons.

Boy, I really don’t want to sound like I’m raining on parades here, but I don’t think I’m going to give the timeskip a second thought because I would be intensely shocked if Blizzard ever remembers even doing a timeskip.
I feel like they’ll say it’s only been a few months since Shadowlands, then when confronted with evidence to the contrary, they’ll shrug and say “well we didn’t mean it then.”
This has happened before.

So many years on land, Lance is starting to question whether the surname “Topsail” is even appropriate anymore. He sits in Ratchet most days, bottle of rum at his fingertips, gazing longingly at the ocean. The scourge were ran out of the Barrens. The usual threats still roam the countryside. The Alliance have been keeping their noses out of Horde business. All is safe, and bland.
Lance is bored, and lonely, and sad. He’s a rusty drunk who is out of practice. He needs some excitement and some attention.

I’m going with the tried-and-true tactic of hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
Maybe he should pay his bar tab.
Maybe someone should pay his bar tab.

The Broken Isles.
And same, Axiann is never the big hero. To him, folks like Thral, Windrunner, Greymane, Proudmore (only referred to by last name, because that seems more plausible, are distant figure heads.
He received orders based on the small bit of the campaigns his superior is involved in.

I feel like people have lost track of this thread.
Let me reiterate: What is your character doing during this potential time skip?

In character I ICly did not enter the Shadowlands because I (OOCly) felt something like this would happen
The only timeskip I would accept is the one that gets the wow timeline on track with real life time passing. One IC year = one expansion has always been dumb.

“It was an unreliable narrator saying that. Those characters just got really confused about time.”
Then in a later patch these characters get called senile and confused another time just to cover their bases.
Time skips won’t bug me since I play mostly elves. But I will probably end up ignoring it as a courtesy to other players whose characters that might effect seriously, who do not wish for their characters to be seriously affected like this. “Several years” can be a dramatic change to a character’s body and physical capabilities as they age, and most folk want to be dexterous, powerful heroes.
But I apologize for getting off track, Zaeka. You just wanted to know what everyone’s characters will be doing.
The easy response from me is the same old same old. Altielle has this natural inclination towards complacency and letting time slip by around her. That’s not exciting, though.
Maybe I’ll have her start really pursuing the warlock arts. Most of her use of it thus far has been in the name of survival. In several years she could go a from snippy upstart whose limited experience is overcome by resourcefulness to a proper master and powermonger.
She could expand her cast of demonic minions, have a few more adventures and relics under her belt, and maybe gain some new conflicts in her life she might have to overcome.
Or I could do something else, not sure! I think I could have fun with it. But like I said, if enough people want to ignore it I’ll happily be a team player. Because I know others might not have fun with it.

TIME IS FAKE
Otherwise, Juspion finished exploring ALL of the multiverse and infinite timelines and with this newfound knowledge he used it to make a clunky portal gun.
Since joining Vigilants his new dice master ability is a portal gun that he’ll use to make portals above enemies and dropping anvils on them like a Saturday morning cartoon character.
So basically he spent time skip working on his invention.
Yet I always kinda go meta and all the things I do as the player in the game is Juspion having multiverse adventures, including the alts that are him since his class is OOO. So all the game stuff I’m doing now was his multiverse adventures during time skip. I also make sure to never bring it up in RP because no one likes that person that says they personally killed Deathwing, stormed Antorus and defeated Sargeras or are the class hall leader (in Juspion case he’d be the leader of FOUR) or BFF with the faction leaders and potentially Arthas’ long lost son etc

I’ve never thought of RPing it as multiverse stuff… Saadiya, my mage librarian is from Alternate Draenor, but that’s the extent of my use of multiverse of madness-ing.

Yah, I just do it for fun. Like right now I’m working on the Kyrian path of ascension achievement on my monk so this is just another infinite AU Juspion running around the after life training my soul binds to fight a robot or something. While my shaman I’m collecting the class hall skins so just more AU multiverse Juspion taking Thrall’s hammer and slapping Helya around because he’s stuck in a time looping running Maw of Souls over and over (for the artifact skin achievement).
It’s all his off camera side adventures you don’t see in RP.
