An Insight into Uther's Character Arc in Bastion

Uther: All around me, the Ascended speak of the Path. The way in which each soul must find its peace, its eternity, after a lifetime of flawed mortality.
Uther: I have tried to forget. I have tried to forgive. Yet… He lingers in every waking thought. Down every path.
Uther: This anger is foreign to me. Unrecognizable. I must cleanse it. That is my path. My Paragon said it should be so, and it WILL be so.
Uther: The Light has damned your soul, Arthas. May it rot in the Maw!
Uther: Will his fate ever bring me peace? Will I ever be free of him? Perhaps… in time. Perhaps.

Man, Uther is pissed.

He did say that he hoped there is a special place in Hell for Arthas, right before he died.

How is that living forever thing going for you, Arthas?

I thought of Bastion as an interesting place due to its emphasis on service. It nudged me to level a Male Human Paladin, to be all immersive.

But Uther’s contrarian spirit in comparison to the realm, and his devotion to his own causes, makes me even more excited to check it out.

If Arthas does not have a special place in Hell, I would help Uther and Sylvanas make a new place in the Shadowlands for that brat. As per Uther’s request.

U> ther: I too would like to understand. Please, lead the way.

Uther: My training as an Aspirant was difficult. I remembered nothing of my life.
Uther: Every time I close my eyes, I see my death. I see… him… standing before me, that cursed blade in hand…
Uther: Devos convinced me that my death was wrong. She promised me justice.
Uther: What we did to him was not justice. It was vengeance.
Uther: Lysonia was no different. I did not know that they wielded the same darkness…

The link you gave shows Uther’s personal writings. The fact that Uther at the end of the Bastion Covenant Questline states that his and Devos’s actions(throwing Arthas into the Maw) were wrong indicates that Blizzard sees Arthas as worthy of Revendreth at worst.

The idea that we are condemning one blonde witch while redeeming Kaelthas and Arthas is making me puke a little.

Little bad blonde boys, you were all good. The broad is bad, tho.

Typical Blizzard.

The Arbiter sends people to the Afterlife they are best at: Vashj was sent to Maldraxxus because the Arbiter knew she would like it best.

The Arbiter likely sent Sylvanas to the Maw because she was the perfect Mawsworn General!

The Jailer only gives Eternal Torment to Souls he believes are not worth recruiting. Those worth recruiting are first tested until they are deemed worthy of serving the Jailer upon which they become the ones doing the torturing.

Sylvanas of course proved herself worthy through other methods(burning Teldrassil, making the most of the 4th War and tearing open the veil to the Maw) after the Valkyr pulled her out of the Maw.

Also: the Soul of Arthas had a separate consciousness from Arthas himself and tried to stop Arthas only for Arthas to discard the last Soul fragment for interfering with his goals.

The Soul/Humanity of Arthas remained in Child/Matthias Lehner form in Edge of Night.

The Soul of Arthas before Frostmourne took his Soul was no where near as villainous as Lady Vashj: Lady Vashj backed the Legion invasion during the War of the Ancients, burned down multiple Night Elf Villages alongside Illidan in WC3:TFT and enslaved the Broken of Zangermarsh while draining Water from the environment!

Before most of his Soul was grabbed by Frostmourne causing his Body to gain separate sentience and freedom to ignore the remaining Soul Sliver that was the beginning of Matthias Lehner the Prince named Arthas only burned down one City in a desperate attempt to stop a Plague and backstabbed a couple of mercenaries!

It was only after he had most of the Soul removed(causing his body to become sentient and self serving) that Arthas started massacring cities for no reason. Blaming the Soul of Arthas for those actions is like blaming Lana from Hyrule Warriors for the actions of her other half!

Eh?

Or as the kids say… wut?

At least Lady Vashj also aided those in her path who could prove useful. In WC 3, she makes it quite clear that she is serving at Azshara’s command. But she still helps Kaelthas and Illidan get their tired outcast rumps to work.

I think Vashj at least helped people sometimes, even if it was for her ends. Where would the Sindorei be, without her? Arthas just culled. Even before he took up the sword.

Even her naga helped rescue Tyrande from the scourge. And we know how much the naga hates night elves. Although Vashj herself was not there, as she was keeping an eye on Kael’thas.

I feel like Vashj probably went to Revendreth first and after being “redeemed” went to Maldraxxus afterwards. Since iirc, souls that get redeemed in Revendreth can either go back to the Arbitar for re-evaluation or they can join the Vanthyr.
