To me, it doesn’t make any sense to want to try and build up insanity. That doesn’t sound like a good idea at all, isn’t the point of using void magic to not submit to the mind breaking whispers of the old gods? yet we willingly become insane anyway?
I think that a really cool idea would be to keep insanity as a resource. and like usual your shadow spells would build up insanity as you cast them. But instead of trying to get to max/70 insanity to enter voidform, getting high insanity would instead be a bad thing, since that makes sense you wouldn’t want to be insane. I don’t know what the downside of high insanity will be, and I don’t trust myself to think of something good enough to make this a good idea, but I like the concept of it. Additionally, since blizzard wants to focus on class fantasy the shadow priest would have holy spells, for example smite, that would clear away some insanity by casting it. It won’t do as much damage as the insanity generators but again, their purpose would be to clear away insanity.
So the whole idea is that you dabble in void magic, and use it to decimate your foes, but you have to try and stay sane using the light as to not fall into corruption. I’d like feedback as to whether this is a good idea or not and what else could be added to make this an interesting alternative to voidform.
