So Mistweaver when it was first introduced was in concept a true Healer/DPS hybrid swapping between the two via stances and well got me thinking what if we took that and applied it to the two current Mistweaver playstyles?
Like rather then splitting the tree and the two playstyles what if instead they were brought together via two stances Wise Serpent and Spirited Crane with talents, abilities and a mastery that changes depending on the stance you take?
Stance of the Spirited Crane would take on the Fistweaver playstyle of course melee, damage focused, heals through damage passively etc.
Stance of the Wise Serpent would take on the Mistweaver playstyle being ranged swapping melee abilities into ranged counter parts, healing focused, mana cost reduction etc.
Obviously not super detailed cause just a rough idea.
Like the idea behind it is that we’d be weaving between the two stances based on situation and curious what people think of something like this
I was never a fan of the idea of stance dancing. It’s one of the reasons I never played a warrior back in the day, or a dk when they had their version of stances. If that was something brought back to monk I’d either stay permanently in the “healing” stance or try and get more enjoyment from a different healer. That’s just my personal feelings on it.
There were no healing vs casting stances in MoP. The Yulon/Chi-Ji stance for MW was added in WoD. Then removed in Legion.
There was a Tiger vs Ox stance if that is what you are thinking about.
What would you really gain with stances other than annoyance at having to swap back and forth? Why add the extra step when you can already go between fistweaving and casting?
The problem I see with this is that it either necessitates removing/changing Rising Mist and Rapid Diffusion or making an already very time-sensitive rotation even more complex (or macroing stances onto every ability which is the specific point where Blizzard removes or unifies abilities) since the additional button press still takes time even without GCD because of human limitations.
A rework would probably be necessary simply due to the difference in complexity between us and other classes, but I’d rather it not be laser-focused on a split between Eminence and Healing. I’d rather the focus be on ReM count stability or making the high ReM be more directly linked to player decision rather then the odd mix of TFT timing and complete RNG.
