An explanation of the Level Squish with Behavioral Science

I think their aim is to try and encourage people to play.

I agree, and if you want your player base to stay logged in you need to make meaningful content rather than subject your consumers to this digital voodoo.

Who said anything about re-doing all the old content? That would just end up producing more of the same mindless face-roll we have now.

They need to get outside the box and come up with something that makes us sit up and take notice.

Create a Mentorship system in faction capitals. You pick one or more mentors based on the energy/magic/physical spectrum your character deals in. Fel or Life, Chi or Death, Physical or Arcane, Frost/Fire, Light/Shadow… As you use abilities associated with those aspects, your attunement with it grows and it occasionally unlocks one of a series of increasingly difficult challenges that your mentor will send you on. Mini-Mage tower challenges in a sense.

They might unlock level appropriate gear for non-heirloom slots, xmogs in the style of that magical/physical element or weapon illusions, etc. Completing one of the challenges early while it’s profoundly difficult could also come with a substantial experience boost… waiting until it’s trivial would not.

There are a huge number of things that Blizzard could inject into the levelling experience without rebuilding the world itself that would make doing it again fun, interesting, rewarding and worthwhile.

Well it appears extortion works on some people.

This appear to indicate you thought they should redo it. Not sure what you meant by that then.

No. Leave the old content as is. Create NEW content.

It will still cost and they will still have to justify costs so that means more extortion to do it.

Stagnation = death. Either they muster up the effort and expense to keep things going or the battle is already over.

They need to move beyond this mentality of merely slapping content on to the tail end.

Now can you explain the Skinner Box and why everything is RNG now

They don’t need to reinvent the leveling experience because for a lot of people it is just fine now.

Some people they are just never going to please.

“Encourage” doesn’t really describe what they’ve done to lengthen playtime while giving no increased rewards. It’s more like “require” and well on the way to “enforce”.

Sure, “lots of people”, like you, who don’t level up alts anymore. But there’s attrition. Players leave.

If the game is hostile to new players, forcing them to endure nights and nights and nights of decade and half stale content… there will be higher abandonment rates and fewer potential players willing to take a chance on WoW at all.

That’s not healthy for the long term viability of WoW.

The content isn’t STALE to new players. It is all brand new content.

Read every word, agree 100%, level squish = bad, if done by the current management/dev team.

Semper Fi! :us:

If and only if they’re completely ignorant of other similar games available to them. ESO and FFXI are both tickled pink by the massive influx of WoW refugees.

People generally follow their friends… and first-time players are no exception.

You’re trying way too hard lol. Blizzard isn’t going to hire you btw.

Is that because of the old content or the new content though ? Can you guarantee if they again take resources away from new content (like they did in BfA) to fix old content that that will increase sub numbers or will it tend to decrease them just like the last ‘fix’ did.

I believe you. Of course I believe everything I read on the interwebz lol.

It is necessary to address uneducated posts. A post that directly targets parents involving their rights.

What your post has to do with wow or level squishes is beyond me.

Also i believe you are walking a thin line talking about drugs according to the code of conduct.

Nobody was discussing anything of the sort. You’re just trying to pick a fight.

Your post was about drugs, and only about drugs. I had a side conversation with someone else about work (in which several things including magnets came up), you’re being aggressive. Please stop tagging me. I consider this harassment.
