An attempt at an informative thread

For people that would like an efficient path to a hero track item when the new and exciting Puzzling Cartel Chips become available on May 13th. This is mostly aimed at non-raiders and people considering at least LFR to take advantage of these chips. Might be useful for some people that want to get their upgrade before their prog raid as well though.

First I’d advise you to take a look at your BiS list on a few sources, such as Wowhead and Icyveins, and perhaps Sim if you can. Pick an item to target and then I’d advise you to make sure you know which boss those items drop from (for those who haven’t killed them all) so you know exactly the boss that you need to have kill credit on for your first item. You must kill the boss once on any difficulty to have access to their loot table for hero track pieces.

We are being given a new weekly quest requiring us to kill four bosses in liberation of undermine. Completing this quest on week one will reward you with 3 undermine chips, which is enough to purchase an item the first week, and each successive week the same kill requirement for a reward of 1 chip. Over 6 weeks you should be able to purchase three items.

Now that we know what item we want, what boss drops it, and that we can get it by only running two wings of LFR. Let’s try to minimize your effort by targeting just the wing with the boss you need your first drop from and one more wing for completion of the 4 boss kill requirement.

This will reward you with a hero or mythic track BiS item on week one assuming you have the boss killed on the appropriate difficulty at least once.

Thanks for reading if you did.

Edit: Dropping this here for people that are interested in further information:

Fair take. I’m just trying to throw this out for the people that have been asking about what they are now feeling compelled to do.

This makes it easy for them I think.

Find the items that are best for you, find the boss they drop from, kill that boss, run another wing and complete chip quest.

Don’t need to worry about raid for another week if it isn’t truly your thing but you want some easy pieces.

If you don’t aspire to unlock the mythic versions of items then I think the guide above basically covers it.

I probably won’t bother with Eye of Kezan since reading about the very long cooldown. House of Cards seems like a good bet for a number of my alts. Will see when vendor comes out, as like to look at everything at once.

okay

BIS lists are kinda fake. Just run the raid through droptimizer and sim both patchwerk and whatever your specs supported aoe sim is(sometimes not all are)

What makes you say this? Without proper knowledge of which secondary stats to take, you’ll fall into a trap.

After I ran sims, Mechano-Core at the same ilvl simmed higher than Eye. And that’s something you can just pick up off the dusty Delve floor. I promptly got rid of the Eye after. I just really didn’t like the buildup and ultimately kinda meh payoff.

I’m probably going to replace Mechano with a 675 Stone, but I don’t think I have an interest in the Eye…At all. I was thinking it would be BiS.

I appreciate this thread. There is a lot of misinformation and fearmongering being spread right now. Nice quick guide for those trying to sift through the salt.

Maybe also mention that May 13th is the first week for chips.

I figured it could help some of the people that are on the fence about raiding to get these chips.

Added to first sentence thank you.

I’ma be honest, idk how to get these cartel things. Have they even launched yet? I certainly haven’t seen any new quests.

Nope. May 13th should be the first day they are available. There will be a new weekly quest (likely available in the same general area as Faerin in Dorn but I’m not sure) and it will require four boss kills on any raid difficulty. Vendor for the chips will be Consultant Wrexxle and as of now it says he will be located near the great vault.

First completion will give 3 chips, following weekly completions will give 1 chip. 3 chips required for an item.
