IMO, The reason there’s a drop off from M+5 to +15 is most likely the amount of playing needed. For most players, it’s a ridiculous time sink. I bet most people just don’t want(or have the time) to do it after doing all the +5s.
We can’t just say it’s an indicator of difficulty.
What’s good for business doesn’t directly translate what’s enjoyable for a customer.
A limited time sale on an item that doesn’t need to be limited time is a marketing ploy used to create a psychological response of urgency within the customer.
It it’s an artificial sense of urgency because nothing is preventing the company from reintroducing the items again.
Look at the cosmetic helms that were in the store for years. Then they weren’t selling or had lower sale rates, so blizzard said “these are going away. Get them now.”
Why did they do this? To create FOMO and try to drive sales with a product that wasn’t selling. And don’t say the helms were selling because if they were, why remove them? You wouldn’t remove a bestselling product.
FOMO is such a stupid marketing tactic on digital items that have no expiration date.
There is zero reason for Blizzard to not have those transmog helms in the store right now. Absolutely none. But someone at the marketing department thought they should create artificial scarcity to drum up a response out of customers and have a fear of missing out.

Time isn’t an indication of difficulty for the player?
It really is. Because if you’re sinking 10 hours a week in +5 keys, rather than having the ability to push your key forward to 20+ during those 10 hours (or however long you play), there’s a skill issue.
That’s why week 1 we were running 15s, while everyone else was still in +2s.

Yes! Challenge modes would be awesome again!
The challenge mode stuff bugged the crap out of me. I loved the appearances and wanted them for my Warlock. Problem is, my Warlock was on a super heavy Alliance server, and the game worked very differently back then. Without a guild, there was just no reasonable way to get into groups to farm them…
That being said… no, don’t bring them back. They’re rewards for people that did the content, even if I kind of got screwed. What Blizzard should do, is make more things like this in the future. The fact that people still talk about them a decade later is proof that they’re a success.

Interesting take.
My point is that after doing all the +5s, I’d say nope to the rest, regardless of if the +5s took me 1hr total, or 30. It’s not worth it to me to spend more time there.
It’s not that hard to understand. Of the players who have challenge warlord 92% also have challenge warlord: gold.

Which is why the entire thing is ridiculous, because there are obviously people who tried and couldn’t get anywhere.
When you were able to obtain bronze, you knew mechanics well enough to tighten it up and keep going forward if you wanted.
There is no argument here.
Just some dude crying about a sword he’ll never have.

I see the numbers and see how much time and effort were wasted from the developers by not making it accessible to the mass players.
I’m all in for bringing the challenges back. The game hasn’t enough evergreen content and this would suffice the needs to make the game more attractive.
I should sue my local coffee shop because they frequently have “limited time only” food/beverages. Clearly they hate customers.

You’d have an easier time trying to squeeze blood from a stone.
WoW’s audience is too inured to fomo to accept a world without it.
But you can recreate food with your own effort, a digital good cannot be remade.
People blending both reality and internet life too much together these days. It’s not the same.
That’s not the point of the post, but sure?
1+ for it coming back.
not as a recolors, the REAL things.
stop gatekeeping and making FOMO trash.
I see no reason to play this game anymore, everything i want is 100% out of reach due to idiotic gating.
Didn’t play the game during X period of time?
HUHU, BETTER LUCK!, BETTER GET A TIME MACHINE!!.
Such bad design, and people who support it are just as bad.

No one said it was a 1:1 comparison, only that limited time offerings are not scummy. You can not like them all you like, but they are a pretty common marketing tactic across every industry.

And again: the tiny percentage of spoiled children shouldn’t dictate how others enjoy the game.
It was accessible to everyone. Literally everyone. So I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s no different than MT.
Sounds like a you problem, not a game problem. There’s very little that’s gated by anything except people’s willingness to actually reach their goals.

Yes, but can you see the difference between reality and a game? It’s not the same. Digital goods do not expire, so there is no reason to fight constantly over “FOMO” all the time. All it takes is to switch a variable to get it back.
It’s not accessible now which is a problem. Bring it back with a similar difficulty. FF14 has a lot of these super hard challenges and rewards, why does WoW needs to remove everything interesting for people to get?

I mean for him it was. First two paragraphs of the post were dedicated to it and how he could never get his hands on the most beautiful thing in all the land.
Could be way totally super off base here, but it seemed like a pretty good indication of why he wanted CMs returned.
