This is mainly for the solo player in mind, but others could do it of course.
This is for the people who don’t necessarily have the time or inclination to participate in large group content, but still would like some progression outside of world content.
End game content for the solo player.
Mainly it would consist of smaller tasks that would benefit large raid groups.
For instance.
Solo “raid” content could consist of the solo player breaking into the raid and taking small side hallways, while defeating mobs and mini bosses, to open up the front door so the large group could enter. (Please be advised that this is for story driven purposes only and if no one ever completed this “solo raid” it would not stop a raid group from entering).
When it comes to certain mechanics that the larger raid needs to do in order to defeat the boss, the solo raider could sneak into the raid and set up ways for the raid to counter these mechanics. Of course fighting mobs and mini bosses a long the way.
These solo instances could also have different difficulty settings, which could reward gear/gold/items of an ilvl 5 to 10 levels lower than the raid it is designed for based on difficulty. Thereby giving the solo player better gear than they can get out in the world, but worse gear than those who actually participate in real raid encounters.
Remember, all manner of players play WoW, and they all should have something in game they can do to progress.

I think Torghast is a good solo player path. I personally don’t like the idea of the best gear coming from working alone. I do like the idea of 1v1 Arena though
i like it is a good idea , i want solo opshin 4 fun boss , then u can laff u gild it wipe wipe

Yeah, I am looking forward to Torghast.
As for it being the best gear, it’s not. It’s a step up from world gear and a step down from raid gear.

I like the idea but it should award gear with lower level than normal raid difficulty, and some might say lower than LFR ilvl.
As a mostly solo player I’m perfectly OK with this.

Honestly I think I would be ok with it being on par with LFR.
To me this is m+. Literally 30 mins at most to get it done and access weekly to gear improvements. Also continually scales.
If you put your own grp together or tank/heal lfg is not an issue
The gear would be rewarded based on the difficulty the player chose to complete the instance in.
Easy mode (LFR) woudl reward gear at +.25 the current world gear.
Regular +.50 current world gear
Heroic +.75 current world gear
Mythic +1 current world gear.
All of which are still a step down from it’s raid counterparts.
Yes, my idea has it’s inherent flaws. But ideas are always welcome.
Sorry Val, ;/ I don’t want to see them create content like that. For the solo player it’d be worth them doing the quests on LFR.
As looking to my own gear much of it is from solo play (levelling crafting through PvP, most armour is the one from Visions).
My PoV is that the effort put into implementing this suggestion would remove value from the purpose of it being a raid in the first place.
Doing earlier raids though is a very enjoyable activity and I do see how your suggestion could make current raid content enjoyable in a similar way to how Mythic Raids in Legion currently work.
That would make gearing more quicker and mythic raids life spans shorter. Believe me you don’t want to touch the mythic raiding crowd, I mean the part that goes all doomsday because something was changed.
Well, do you have an idea for a solo progression experience that fulfills the player but doesn’t harm the other aspects of the game, that goes beyond simple world content and crafting?
This would ruin queue times which can already be awful, especially for DPS. I solo a lot in this game, but I understand it’s an MMO and the idea is to play with other people, so i dont ask Blizz to cater to solo players. No, not all players should have something in game they can do to progress.
What you really want is raid gear as a solo player which is ridiculous.
Either what you propose but with gear of similar ilvl as LFR or the Torghast approach that awards cosmetics, mounts and materials for legendaries.
If you add solo content that gives gear with ilvl closer to the raid difficulty you choose. Then people will do solo content and then Mythic raids, because solo content will always be easier since you eliminate the difficulty of the human error (other players errors) and the time waste of gathering a group. That would be also a big no from blizzard because people gear faster, raid bosses die faster and raid life spans get shorter, causing them to regurgitate content constantly to keep the player base busy.
Something similar happened to pvp gearing. People calculated how much time and bgs would take you to fully upgrade your gear, and they reached the conclusion that doing mythic+ is still the fastest way to get gear.
As a cancer patient that’s going thru chemo and radiation, I would be so happy to have this, since I can’t commit to a raiding guild. I have good days, bad days, and days I can’t even walk across the yard I’m so fatigued. But I’m fighting. And I log on WoW when I don’t have the energy to do much around the house. I love your idea Valdrane <3

Thanks. And keep on fighting.
This is an mmo not a solo experience. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
