I found the rare mob, Amethyst Spireshell, hanging from the ceiling in Darkwater Cavern in the South-West corner of Nazjatar. The problem is that nothing I could do would reach him, any attempt at attacking from any angle would give me an error that the mob was out of line of sight.
Same for Mirecrawler. I saw Mirecrawler first in plain sight but couldn’t hit him. Then i killed Shassera and Amethyst Spireshell was in the back of the cave on the second floor above a pool full of deadly piranha things. No target, fell in water to hit it, died, rezzed on second level, couldn’t target, so I’m leaving after I hit reply. Hopefully without visiting the piranha again.
Yea, they have targeting issues. For a workaround until they’re fixed, the best way to get them down is if it’s a short cave, is find a demon hunter to double jump and use something like Fel Rush.
If you’re a Gnomish Engineer, use a Gnomish Gravity Well (toy) to jump up to the cave ceiling and use an AoE to hit it. I use Carve. It will fall down.
Until they fix it, these are the only 2 ways I’ve found to knock them down.
Found another bug relating to Mirecrawler. Just killed one at 45,49 (Dragon’s Teeth Basin) and when I went to loot him (literally seconds after it died) he despawned and the loot disappeared. I could see it in the looting window (manapearl and some other stuff) and it literally disappeared ![:frowning:](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/frowning.png?v=6" ":frowning:")
Mirecrawler can also spawn inside Mardivas’ Laboratory, which is an area that phases when you enter it. So you’ll see the star on the map, enter the cave and everything will despawn. I have also found the Amethyst Spireshell inside a rock earlier today, it was targetable and AoE abilities could damage it slightly, but it would reset immediately.
I also found the Amethyst Spireshell, hanging from a cave ceiling. The rare was at Mardivas Hideaway at 37.88, 6.51 in Nazjatar. I tried every trick I could think of but I could never get him in line of sight, even though he was in plain site on the ceiling. There was no angle that I could get him in line of sight to get him down.
Found the Amethyst Spireshell hanging out in a different cave, still unable to attack it due to it being out of line of sight. I understand the “hanging from the ceiling” thing looks cool, but you might as well put these rares on the ground until you can get it working correctly.
