AMD Radeon 7000 Series Constant Crashing

That’s also outdated, it doesn’t even list the NVIDIA 40 series either.

I’ll give a try playing with discord without hardware mode, and browser closed. I’ll post here the results

The driver is out. still having crashing. are u sure its fixed?

Still crashing. Even disabling everything. The problem is only in World of Warcraft. With all the layoffs, i’m afraid that we’ll never get this fixed.

This causes me to be suspicious these days once you consider that blizzard is nvidia’s little pawn.

Fifteen seconds after opening a new tab, searching for AMD support forums, typing crash in the search bar and sorting by date, oh and I took a gulp of coffee and wiped up some that dribbled down the side of the mug:

No, AMD has just always been reaaaaaaly slow about handling new changes to the WDDM and other graphics/memory related Windows changes.

Fair enough, just used to seeing the millions of “out of the 6.023*10^23 games I play, only WoW crashes, so this has to be all Blizzard’s fault” type posts in these types of threads.

I suggest you use the Adrenalin report feature. The more people report issues, the faster they can fix them or the stronger they’ll feel urged to do so.

Something in WoW is off that causes these crashes that nothing else does (on my system and it sounds like on a number of others). But AMD also needs to shore up whatever it is that is allowing WoW to crash the driver.

It’s been a problem for long enough where I hope one (or both) figure out what it is and fix it. Although it sure is getting me to consider giving Linux another go, since it sounds like this isn’t an issue when running under Proton on there.

Because as I(and others) have stated elsewhere already, it’s on the driver developer to fix things they broke, not the game developers. GPU drivers are created for games, not the other way around. That’s why there are always “game ready drivers” by both(well all three if you count Intel) companies. In those drivers, they make specific tweaks for new games coming out, to ensure they play properly.

For example, try running Nvidia Profile Inspector, click the option in the top-right of the shortcut bar for “Show unknown settings from Nvidia predefined profiles” and then scroll down to that section below. You’ll see a very large list of custom flags with various games and applications predefined in each of them. Each one of those flags are essentially a special case exception that they had to hard code into the drivers. Why? Because like I just stated in the previous paragraph: GPU drivers are made(99% of the time) for games/apps, not the other way around.

A really gross overview: Games make calls to things like the DirectX API, Windows mediates that and then Windows lets the drivers tell the GPU what to do. Blizzard has no ability to get a detailed look beyond the interface between the game client and the DX API and can only rely on the information and/or errors that Windows or the GPU drivers might tell them. So essentially, the Windows end of things and GPU drivers are a blackbox to Blizzard and Blizzard only has API reference and rules to go by.

Hmm that’s interesting, since the preview driver and the now released one. Not a single crash.

This is partially true, CS 2 came out with a ton of errors and crashes for AMD Users, It took Valve and AMD to release several fixes each for it.

same here no crashes using the new driver and dx12 in the past 2 weeks.

What card are you on, and are you on 24.1.1?

7900 xt 24.1.1

Are you SURE about that? Because I had crash and timeout when it was updated.

Still crashing on new driver for me. Doubt this issue ever gets fixed at this point.

Have a 7900xtx and now with 24.1.1 instead of AMD adrenaline software completely crashing and restarting the monitor will go black, WoW will switch to the other monitor, my main monitor will restart and WoW will switch back to my main monitor.
