Raptor Lake may very well lead the pack this generation which means AMD will with Zen5. Its going to be a flipflop war every Generation I think
Personally I hope they are even with each other. Why? At that point the only thing left to fight over is price. Once the price war starts it means we as consumers win.
Thats why you dont want to be a fanboy for either you want them to be so similar the only thing separating their CPUs is price. That way we get cheaper stuff.
This is why I appreciate AMD for fulfilling their promise with the am4 platform
Someone with a Ryzen 5 1600, from a 2017 build, can easily just do an update to their x370/ b350 motherboard with the latest BIOS update, and then go grab a 5800x3d or something cheaper from the 5000 series
Your just gave your 5 year old PC build a longer bang for your buck
You didn’t have to buy a new motherboard, Intel would have made you pay for 2 maybe 3 motherboards if you wanted to go from skylake to coffee lake and then to alder lake
Intel would never do this, yet they could, look what they did to kaby lake users when releasing coffee lake
It’s literally the same socket but they changed some pins, but they want you to buy a new board anyways
I said why you shouldn’t be a fanboy of either side yet here you are trying to explain to me why AMD is better than Intel. It’s no secret you are an AMD fanboy
I never said I thought intel was better. Yet somehow that’s what you read. About the socket thing just because they AMD did that in the past doesn’t mean they’re going to do it again
The company could at any time start changing their socket every two years also. As I said above I am not a fan of either side I simply go with who is the better buy at the time
But go ahead keep being a fan of one side and if you’re right and your side constantly wins? Us consumers lose because they get to play the name your price game they know they have the best product and can price it whatever they want and people will pay it. However if both companies are producing an equal product? The two companies eventually get into a price War and us consumers win.
You want companies to be competitive over price not always just their product. AMD is a company they are out to make money and they are going to do whatever they need to do so they are not your friend.
Nevertheless I’m a consumer not a fanboy and I will simply buy from who’s ever producing the better product that the time. End of story
What can we expect from the processors in terms of CPU overclocking?
I’m not gonna make a commitment yet on frequency, but what I will say is that 5.5 GHz was very easy for us. The Ghostwire demo was one of many games that achieved that frequency on an early-silicon prototype 16-core part with an off-the-shelf liquid cooler. We’re very excited about the frequency capabilities of Zen 4 on 5 nanometer; it’s looking really good, more to come.
Proof that their game demo was on a prototype, if a prototype can achieve 5.5ghz, what will a finalized product give
Some people dont care. They buy the best product for them. Im one of those people. I will gladly spend a bit more to have a product that suits my needs better. Its why I bought a 5900x back when you couldnt get one from a scalper on ebay. I paid more but it suited my needs the better than anything else on the market at the time. So I bought it and paid more for it.
I have a old coworker who uses his computer for work. Its how he makes money. So he spent 1k+ on the 5950x on ebay from a scalper also because he would lose more money by not getting it. When we both bought our CPUs they were about as far from a “value” as you can get. But it suited both our needs best
As for future proofing? there is no such thing. Both jay and gamer nexus will tell you this. AMD is not your buddy. They are a company like any other out to make money. They will follow the money and do what ever makes the most business sense evn if that means changing sockets on you. Dont be delusional here and think otherwise
You are always so AMD bias on here. My point was dont be. Just lay the facts out for people. Let them make their own choice. Do your best to give an unbiased opinion.
AMD has ___________ and _________ it can do __________
intel has ___________ and _________ it can do __________
leave it at that and let the person decide. Trying convince someone to buy AMD or intel becuase you like them better is bad advice. They may miss out on the product that would suit their needs better. I have another buddy who almost has to buy intel because the work and apps he use run better on intel and always have. Some niche apps favor intel largely.
So why would AMD continue to have x370s and b350s still support Ryzen 5000s and including the 5800x3D?
You’re right they could have easily forced motherboard upgrades but they didn’t, they promised in 2016 prior to the release of am4 and they did their promise
They already said long term support for am5 just like their am4 predecessor
Yes AMD and Intel is profit first, but AMD is more lenient with upgrade paths
That’s funny tbh, I did that when Ryzen 1000 and 2000 series came out, the Intel fans came out in full force attack by trying to say kaby lake was better
The guys that got recommended kaby lake setup’s got SOL cause they were stuck on that platform unless a new motherboard upgrade
People including myself did do this, back during coffee lake era people attacked anyone with Ryzen suggestions, happened on the old forums too
You ignored literally everything I said and focused completely on just one sentence. I see talking to you and trying to explain my point about an unbiased opinion is going to be like trying to talk to a wall.
I think we are done here
I dont recommend either. I state the facts of both sides and let the person decide. Unless they are a personal friend or I can read their mind I dont know all their needs. So all I can do is state the facts and let them decide between intel or amd. That was my point.
