4tb seems good value
I’m waiting for PNY CS3140 2TB price drop. Want huge PCIE 4.0 SSD!
I don’t know if I am going to get another SSD…I probably should. Since I upgraded my old system, I had to split up my high speed storage.
10900kf - 1tb adata sx8200, 1tb samsung 870 evo, 2tb seagate barracuda hdd
8700k - 1tb intel 660p, 4tb wd blue hdd
Ideally I would want to get a larger NVME ssd for the 10900k. It has 3 slots, but one of them is PCIE4 only and I don’t have a supported cpu. So I only have one more NVME slot left. I guess I could always play musical storage and put the xs8200 into a different system and replace it in my 10900k. I do still have 2 usable nvme slots.
That’s a good price for the 4TB but unfortunately not cheap enough for what I would be purchasing it for — have 4x 4TB spinning rust drives in my home server/NAS that make nervous whenever I think about them too much and it’d be great to replace them with less-volatile and ridiculously more fast SSDs but the price would need to drop to a quarter or a fifth of even this sale price for that to make sense.
It’d be great as a “cold storage” drive in a tower to supplement an M2 primary drive. Kinda exciting that it’s becoming economical to use an SSD for that instead of a traditional HD.
