Amazing Performance Mac Mini M1

I just got a Mac mini M1 with 8GB ram and i just wanted to say how well the game runs for me I am absolutely amazed at how well it plays.

I am running it at 1080p with Graphics settings at 7 and i get a constant 60FPS and my Temps are so cool the mac mini never even gets warm My GPU temps reached a Max of 99F and the M1 says max reached was 98F

coming from an intel Mac this is amazing just wanted to say I am very happy and thank you Blizzard for supporting the M1 i hope you all enjoy playing on the Mac M1 as much as i do.

One thing to keep in mind is that places with a lot of enemies like raids and invasions still drop your fps like a rock.

I only noticed a drop of 5 FPS in 25 man and battlegrounds have not dropped at all that I know of .

Very glad to hear it as I’m thinking about a new M1 MacBook Air. I have a Windows box for gaming, but it would be nice to know that it could act as a backup WoW machine if I’m away from home.

Does this mean that the M1 chips rival the top end iMacs?

I just tried again and reset my settings and it seems you’re right. I must have had something bugged.

My wife got the MacMini M1 last week. 8GB ram (only choice) and 512GB storage. On her 2015 MacBook Pro 15" she was getting about 25 to 28 fps in most cities with graphic settings on 3. With the 2020 MacMini M1 we have her settings at 10 except shadows are on the lowest possible. She is getting a solid 75 fps (75 Hz monitor) most everywhere even when crowded. The performance is amazing. I have a 2017 iMac Pro and she often out performs me with her settings on 10 (low shadows) and my settings mostly on 7. The performance is real. If you are a WoW player who uses Macs, even this first generation is quite stunning in performance.

Is this at 1080p?
I have the same M1, and while its amazing what this little box can do, I do not think its what everyone says.

I have my setting initially on 1440p (tried at 1080p as well)
Preset 4 with shadows low and I can only muster steady, not sitting still or looking at screen settings, actual questing at about 50-60fps, if I engage a world boss with a lot of people it tanks and I get a low memory error. Questing was fine and when I encountered the 3 boss fights in Maldraxxi it was a lagfest.

Under “System Preferences>Displays” on your Mac, are you using the default resolution or is it scaled? What is the actual resolution of your monitor?

Regarding my post above on the M1 Mac mini that my wife uses, settings are on 10 but shadows are lowest possible and outline mode off. It’s a 4K 27" 60Hz (was a smaller 75Hz) monitor but, she plays in windowed mode, and I just now checked her resolution. She is playing at 2350x1322. Almost all of Shadowlands she is getting 50 to 60 fps. Where there are a lot of particle effects, like Ardenweald, I’ve seen drops to 30ish, but it usually goes right back to 50 to 60 in a few seconds. It’s a very good playing experience. It’s made WoW a whole new game for her going from level 3 distance to level 10, along with the other level 10 settings. We both play pretty casually, and it’s far more than enough power for us. Hope this helps.
