Basically this. People back in mists said the same thing about pandaren, and now they’re a part of our day-to-day gaming. We just need time to adjust to it.
The only issue i have is how rigid they are on mounts. They are dragons, they fly as part of life. Why are they riding the mount like that drunk chick who thinks she’s going to master the bull riding machine the first time out. I took a FP in Revendreth the other day, and I almost expected to be launched off the front of that bat thing. The physics aren’t there to make these things feel organic.
I don’t know. I mean, we’ve had spaceships and a race from outer space for like 15 years, and to you it’s these dragon-like creatures that are out of place in your fantasy MMO?
I’m enjoying Drakthyr. Personally, i think they made a great race and class, but should add a tank spec.
To be fair, the whole space ship content was already too much for the traditional WOW franchise.
I could get around traveling through sea, as that the orcs and humans were doing at WC, I could also accept that we are having some kind of jump through time, that some evil dragon burned Azeroth… but that aliens land on Azeroth was kind of meh.
The Dracthyr may have a reason to exist, just like the Panda I guess. Its not my cup of tea, but I find it more reasonable than space ships to be honest. Ofc. the question must be asked if the “cute” aspect is truly necessary, as the game does turn into a “hello kitty” paradoxon like that.
I can only repeat what I said before, I miss a truly dark expansion, with truly dark characters, that dont come from the Marvel Universe or some Nickelodeon show. It does not need to be all about Orcs & Humans, but WOW is losing its touch for me if too much cross genre lore is added, just to attract an audience not familiar with WC.
Why did they not add the Naga as a playable race, with the with doctor class? They could have used potions, flasks as unique abilities, in combination with bows and spears. We truly need to get away from the cuteness back to the darkness and fringe science.
But not Vulpira. Those things are evil.
Yes, you are the only one.
You know what I think would improve the feel of the Dracthyr? Having more of a plotline than the initial intro.
By that I mean that the dragon isles folks would react to them differently than every other Horde/Alliance race. They’re dragonoids, technically relatives of a sort, and have lost their sponsor/creator and a bit of their purpose.
I expected the interactions on the Dragon Isles to be more 'Oh, I heard stories but …" or something. And then have some storyline, no matter how small, to sort of find one’s spot in the Dragon Isles amongst their kin.
But like with Mechagnomes, who all acted as they had never met/seen/heard of your mechangnome before for the most part and treated you exactly like every other PC, they did a fail.
It would have been nice if mechagnomes had some little tidbits here and there like: Oh, you’re helping X group out? How’s that working out? Or a few additional ‘recipes’ in the mechagnome creation machine to do more customizations because you’re well, a mechagnome.
The lack of such little tidbits is what really makes me feel disconnected. Yes it would have been a bit of extra work, but invest in the new race you created. Give it a place, rather than generic: Oh, you’re here. We view you like any other human/orc/elf/etc.
It’s a fantasy game. Fantasy? Dragons? I don’t see a problem here. The real problem is that they aren’t actually dragons. They’re Charmanders. I’m joking, of course. While they’ll be the last thing I play, I don’t mind them.
Seriously, if they had made an actual playable dragon race. It would have been way more fun.
No you are not, the dragon class doesnt fit in with og wow. Monks, demon hunters and dks make sense in the wow lore. The dragon class is a shift away from the tradition D&D feel towards the pretty anime UwU sh1t.
You feel this about the dragons but not the pandas?! That ship sailed a long time ago
Looks over at my cases of Monster Zero Ultra … But i enjoy the taste…
Dracthyr are many things but representatives of the “get off my lawn” was not on my bingo card.
