This mythic affix: devour is tearing me up. If the group doesn’t have a priest, I will struggle. Am I the only one struggling to keep the group up? any tips will help. This character is my main. I love healing on my paladin, it is so fun and not as mind-numbing as playing on my priest ( no hate, I love my priest mains out there). How I try to heal when devour comes on, I will use BOV, try to dispel someone, holy shock, and if none of those work, I will use avenging wrath. I pug these dungeons, so I often have to use CDs because people in pugs love not to interrupt. Any addon recommendations, prayers?

You’ll upset dps, but yell at dps to help dispel. Its functionally a healing affix, but the dps with dispels can contribute. If they refuse to listen, make them listen by letting the boss fully heal :3
When it comes out, I dispel someone, put up Virtue (as long as I know there isn’t groupwide damage coming), Divine Toll the group. From there I just Eternal Flame/Rising Sunlight Holy Shock three of the people that still have the debuff, making sure I don’t spend healing on the 5th. When dispel is off cd, I dispel the last person. If needed, you can mix in Holy Light/Flash of Light too.

As a fellow hpal, first thing to keep in mind as a healer is: Not everything is on your shoulders, and not all deaths are your fault.
Even though you can dispel one and do some burst AoE healing if you happen to have CDs, it is entirely on the DPS to use their own dispels or self healing to remove the affix. It is magic, disease, curse, poison, etc. which means there will always be something they can do about it, if one person can’t do it, then you have a dispel.
You’re already doing enough if people don’t interrupt and have to be constantly using CDs to save their butts, my recommendation is to talk with them before dungeon starts, after all tww are kinda challenging and heal carry is pretty rough.

I just dispel 1 immediately, spam heal, dispel a second at the end of there’s 1 left. Pretty much never miss any…find the affix boring tbh.
I also highly suggest not using bov if you are struggling. It really isn’t needed at your level (or
mine for that matter) in m+ and a pain. You will free heal off 2 and dispel 2 with bof.
Very silly but play with Druids, Priests, Mages, Shamans, Paladins, vokers, monks. On weeks like this, a comp with too many non-dispel specs will be rough.
Dispel 1 asap, and you should be able to get 2. If you play with any of the specs that have a dispel, they can also do the same - get 1 immediately and then 1 right before it expires. They will hate it but there’s only so much you can do and it’s supposed to be a team effort.
Terrible but for what ever reason Blizzard wants there to be an affix in the game that only half the playable specs can do easily or at all, the other half are just passengers and if all else fails - it’s the healers fault. It’s great fun for all involved.
