We dont need 2 months of nothing before a season comes out
It took the devs almost a year to fix a game breaking bug in warlord of dranor content (you were literally unable to progress your garrison, following the quest chains would lead you to a path where when you crossed it, the game just crashed and you have to TP move your character to a safe spot to even log back in it)
It takes the devs eons to fix big bugs too
Theres…the expansion? The one you just bought.
And did this happen every time, did it happen with the same setup, was it varied, did it have any variables that made it difficult to diagnose, was the issue tied to some essential core mechanic that in turn was difficult to fix or change without introducing other issues, and since you mentioned this occurred during WoD was it during a time when Blizzard was restructuring?
There’s loads more questions to ask but this is probably a pretty good basic starting point. Note I’m not defending Blizzard, mostly because this isn’t something where people (or companies) need defending from - folks just need to be aware that this ain’t simple, no matter however much folks want to pretend it is. Even “gamebreaking” bugs may not be worthwhile to solve, at least immediately, because of costs associated with fixing it (whilst not a bug, this is the most likeliest of reasons why Covenants weren’t changed sooner than what they were in Shadowlands, because “costs” can be exceedingly nebulous as well - it is generally better to release content or updates all at once rather than in small patches for an example).
And this is why folks need to know more of what goes into bugfixing a game, especially a live service game the size of WoW. Folks just need to be aware that bugs will occur, and sometimes it takes time to fix. But that documenting bugs that occur is important to do since it will help with diagnosing the bugs we encounter as well.
Unless you speak with your money, they have no reason to change anything.
It is brilliant, having forums where people can vent and get the impression their complaints may be heard and/or taken seriously.
All the while, keep paying subs!
Retail and Beta are the same thing this point.
Time to take a break, big fella.
It’s Christmas week. Tons of people aren’t working. It’ll probably get fixed the week of Jan 6th.
Guy actually never played in a beta lol
Blizz’s lead world designer did admit that Siren Isle was not tested, they just ran around it to see if it felt good. He went on to admit they do not test the game world…
And people wonder why the game is in the shape it is now.
Crazy you seem to have bugged run every time. Delete some of your add-ons and stop exaggerating the bugs. Yes sometimes they don’t get fixed right away. Sometimes they take time to figure out how to fix. Dear Lord.
We’ve been playing an unfinished, work in progress game ever since Legion.
Not coincidently, around the same time Ion became lead game director.
Cata Classic also has issues with bugs. I think the reason is that the higher ups fired off or downsized their staff so much to the point that they don’t have the manpower or resources to address all of the issues.
I think this is exactly it. The persistent and growing number of bugs makes it feel like they’re running a skeleton crew with their dev team.
yes, yes you are.
Not only does it often times feel like we are beta testing but we are paying them for the privilege of doing so. I understand some bugs slip thru but some of them are so blaring you have to wonder if they even test it before going live.
On an alt yesterday I saw a bug that I know I reported 5x in beta. The mob is still bugged
