Recently I’ve bought a first month of WoW after enjoying the 20 levels I had from the free version, but now at level 26 I don’t really know where to go…My intention is to play the game main campaign and then do the DLCs, but I don’t know if what I am doing is the correct “campaign”. All I am doing is following the yellow Exclamation marks and completing those missions…Should I do dungeons too? I like them, and also the missions I am doing, some are quite fun, some are quite intriguing, but I don’t know if I am helping the Horde against the Alliance or simply helping some random NPCs to get their outpost our villages safe…Help please since I am actually In love with this game more than with any other MMO RPG I’ve ever played.
Get an addon called wow-pro and another called Tom Tom.
You can get Tom Tom from Twitch, and the other from it’s website wow-pro.com
There is no main campaign or overarching story. Each zone has its own story and each expansion has its own story. Keep in mind yor playing in zones from 2004 it gets much better. You are free to quest in any zones of your level range including the other continents.
I would definitely run dungeons too, as they give good exp and the best gear (blue). Dungeons teach you how to play your roles in a group. There is a lot of different types of group content especially at end game. Dungeons started at level 15.
Hit “I” and click dungeon finder, pick your role, click random dungeon. They will match you with 4 other random players and teleport you to the dungeon. If your queued as dps you’ll usually wait 5-20 minutes. If you queue as a tank (Use protection spec), you don’t wait at all. Definitely quest in the zones while waiting in dungeon queues.
I suggest you learn how to play all three specializations on your class. Hit “N” to switch specs. Also, click the talents tab and makes your you pick talents on all your specs. Your first talent row opens at level 15. Use the icy veins class guides to learn the proper rotations and best talents. If you queue as a tank, say your new at the start of a dungeon so they know why your slow.
Lastly, there are thousands of you tube videos on all things related to WoW so run some searches, Class guides, leveling tips, etc. The game gets better as you level hang in there.
How do I install Addons? Do I need a Manager? Minion?
With the Twitch addon manager, they install directly in the place they need to be to work properly.
With wow-pro, you need to go to their website and install it into the addons folder under your _retail_
folder yourself.
Thank you very much for the info, It trully helps, but I am also thinking about other classes, I am running warrior now but I also wanted something more damage like, but that can sustain himself and survive a few enemies at the same time…Warrior has been nice and fun, but I think I should try some other class before going straight for the 110 warrior…Any advice on a class and race?
It’s a good idea to level a few classes to 25-30ish to see what you like. I’m not sure if you know if you ever want to tank or heal, but that would have an impact on your future.
Example. If you knew you only wanted to melee dps and never tank, heal, or play ranged dps, then rogue is a great choice because you get three melee dps specs that all play very different. Rogues are not the “hit and run” type of class many assume. The more specs you play on a class the more variety.
Dps melee paladins (retribution) and monks (whirlwind) have good heals but each of those classes have only one dps spec so your stuck if you don’t like tanking or healing. Death knights have two melee dps specs but their blood tank spec has the good healing. In the end game, all classes can steamroll solo content after you get some gear.
Do you ever want to play ranged dps, tank, or heal? Most WoW players have many characters so don’t feel like your locked in. After you get one character up there, you can buy heirloom gear so your other characters level 50% faster.
The race performance differences are negligible. Play whatever races you like.
Just an FYI, I wouldn’t JUST run dungeons. Some people think it’s fast, but you miss a lot if you only do that.
Also, the leveling experience is going to change in the next expansion. Right now, you have to level through a bunch of old expansions to get to current content.
When the next expansion launches, you will pick ONE old expansion, and level through that.
If you have a boost, I would use it, and play through BfA. The boost includes a tutorial for whatever class you pick.
Sounds like he didn’t buy BFA yet, but if you buy it make sure to make some 110 trial characters and test them with the icy veins rotations before blowing your $60 value boost.
Melee or Ranged are both ok for me I think, now for tanking I liked it in WOW since my first raid was actually as a tank with spec, but I don’t think im going to be playing a healing class so soon…But again, I don’t usually like classes where you can’t handle yourself in a solo situation, for example, aggro a mini-boss or something and you die without a chance of killing it because It has more HP than your whole rotation, and you can’t sustain yourself through the fight…I understand about the mages, since I bolieve they have no healing, but then after late game you just become a dungeon/raid addict? I like the AoE they have, I think it’s extremely useful, and apparently those late game mages look fun, even more than the warrior, but then again, how do they survive a boss fight?
No, I don’t have BFA, I only payed the first month of WoW after the 20 free levels, but I do plan on purchasing the next DLC in case I am still in this game after 110
The end game gets easier and easier to solo as you get more gear. Mages are totally fine soloing in the end game. If your new to WoW, mages are a little harder solo leveling 1-100 because they have no heals and need to kite mobs sometimes. If your kiting you can accidentally aggro extra mobs.
The good news is there is no death penalties except small repair bills. You can escape almost any situations too. My 120 mage can solo any open world content including elite mobs, except world bosses (nobody can solo those). My mage was able to mass pull 8 mobs at a time leveling from 110-120 using the proper talents and rotation. It was my third to 120 though.
Could you recommend me a class that would be Noob-Friendly and would be a nice DPS focused class?
I heard there was a 100 man world boss once (guided by Asmongold if I remember correctly), is that true?? Are they that amazing??
Hunters are the most noob friendly pure dps class. They have two ranged and one melee spec. They are one of the best solo questing dps class along with warlocks because of the pets tanking for you. That said, all of the classes are easy after you learn them.
I personally like the other three pure dps classes rogue, mage, and warlock all better than hunter though. I’m the type that gets bored of its too easy.
Are good for dungeons too? What about druids?
By the way, thanks for all these replys Really helping me by explaining all these things
Beaupeep too
I also get bored if there is no little challenge…One of the reasons I didn’t really play ESO for a very long time and came to WoW
All of the pure dps classes will have some of there specs better in dungeons, some better in raids, and some better in pvp. There are buffs and nerfs periodically. The rankings will totally change next year too.
Balance druid is pretty fun and solid ranged IMO. Feral is a melee dps with dots and combo points like a rogue, but it’s currently harder to play well compared to rogues in PvE. I love healing on resto druid.
And how good are those classes good on PVE? I don’t plan on doing PVP so soon, but I know I will try when I am max level, but about Rogue ( which I think I will give a try ), druid and mage? Are they good on PvE/dungeons? I think it would be fun to try even if I might have to learn some kiting on WoW…
Also heard that Paladins are like warriors but more fun…Is it true?
Go to warcraftlogs .com, In the upper left drop down, click. Eternal palace, statistics. Change the difficulty to heroic. You’ll see the current rankings of all specs in horizontal bar graphs. These are logs of thousands of Actual runs averaged. Then click mythic + dungeons, statistics. Rankings change so they may be different when you hit 120. We have a new raid coming in January so those rankings will change.
Keep in mind how well you play a class/spec affects your performance more than the rankings. If you suck at a spec, you may perform bad even if the rankings show its the best.
What are the mythic + Dungeons?
Is it just another level of difficulty or they are specific dungeons? Because these stats changed quite a lot between Heroic and Mythic.
Mythic + is an end game Dungeon system with 20+ difficulties. Many people spend their entire life in Mythic +
When you try rogue and feral druid, I put some instructions on this thread how to set up dot bars with the popular weak auras 2 addon. You’ll want resource bar for energy too.
Sin, sub, and feral have dots. Nug combo bar will help a lot with combo points and similar for some other classes.
