So I know Horde is “the faction to be”. It has been that way for years and its only getting worse imo. However I care a LOT about lore, city aesthetics and character aesthetics. Alliance has the city aesthetics and character aesthetics I prefer, so I have stayed Alliance.
Am I crazy for refusing to go Horde even though all my friends have. Literally the last of my friends who stayed Alliance finally caved and went Horde during this 30% off sale on character services. He wasnt happy about doing so but did it. Since I am the only one left it has left me feeling crazy for staying Alliance while all my friends have gone Horde. Now Im debating following even though I really dont want to.
Play what you want, it’s your 15$. Personally, I don’t care for the Horde because it doesn’t have dwarves. That’s the only reason I play Alliance is because dwarves.
The Horde has neither mechagnomes, nor dark iron dwarves, nor void elves. Therefore, they are clearly the lesser of the two factions, regardless of current trends.
As much as I want you to stay on Alliance and give you a motivational speech about “Be happy! It’s your money”
I’ll give you the reality of your situation:
Friends are the most important thing in a MMO. Yes you are crazy for not switching with them. Yes it sucks that you lose what you like but this is a problem Blizzard refuses to fix.
It’s a problem Blizzard can’t fix anymore. They can’t make alliance racials OP, they can’t force switches, they’re unwilling to kill the faction divide and nobody will be the guinea pig to switch even if they offer free transfer. Who would leave all the benefits of the healthier faction?
You’re only crazy if you do what your friends are doing, not because it is something you want to do.
There was a poster a while back with a similar story. He did this, and that, and boosted his character, and played the class his “friends” demanded, and more of this and that…and he wanted to quit, because he wasn’t having fun. His friends were having fun, but he hated his gaming experience because he wasn’t doing what he wanted.
And isn’t that the whole point? To play a game, a hobby, because you enjoy it?
No you aren’t. What doesn’t make sense is why we still aren’t allowed to play with the opposite faction after so long and so many stories about how war is bad and we should work together.
All an MMO mean is that there are multiples of people online.
That’s why there is content for a spectrum of people. People who like to group, people who like to explore, craft, solo, and whatever. Just…lots of people online.
This is a 20 year old topic. If you don’t understand that by now, you never will.
Last 3 expansions, only the first third of one of them had us do different things. At this point, your character model and those in your parties is the only difference between the alliance and the horde. If that’s what’s making you quit, you’re taking your appearance ingame way too seriously.
