So decided to level up an alt and give my Druid a break. I know I can buy the instant 40 renown thing off the vendor.
But my question is: can I still hit 80 renown without doing the campaign story? And outside of perhaps the covenant gear, is there a reason to do the campaign again? I say again because I’ve been through all 4 campaigns.
Been a minute so not sure if I’m missing anything and/or/if I can even hit 80 renown without getting the renown from the campaign story
as somone who is leveling alts its a yes. get he 40 boost right away and (i think) you can start doin cov quests and can skip the campaign (going to each zone)
also pick up the one that gives you all the soulbinds, its a life saver
Yeah you don’t need to do the campaign, you can just do other things (dailies from your hub, dungeons, raids ect)
Go to Korthia, you get a couple levels a week there, and one for the souls from the maw. So yeah, its doable.
Yes. I ahve several alts no covenant. And no korthia story post skip. On a pvp kick of late. most an alts does for story is get the korthia upgrade bit done. I get the dude in the cave. and done.
As I often jsut upgrade a weapon to korthia 220. Its jsut easier than the pvp route imo.
Unless you pulled a bad heroic dungeon…renown there quick and easy.

It sometimes helps on the last few levels if RNG of killing bosses/M+ isn’t working for you, as the campaign renown is guaranteed. However, the callings are 100% guaranteed to give renown as well.
You get maybe 10-15 renown for the campaign if not more, im doing it for the transmog mostly.

I’ve only just realized you can do the zone bonus objectives, daily battleground/torghast run for renown while leveling, I usually get to 70 renown by the time I’m 60 doing it that way.
So i’d just do that then regular activity that gives renown + the weeklies once you’re like 77-78 or wherever the renown stops coming in.
How do you get all the soul bonds?
I think you can though not sure. I would just keep seeing what happens since catchup renown drops off tons of things.

You can only get the 3 soulbinds if you have a character who has completed that covenant’s campaign once.
If it’s your first toon joining a certain covenant, you must do the campaign to get all 3.
I think some may have gotten conduits mixed up with soulbinds, not sure.

I think it’s funny that WoW adopts a renown grind system when star wars already tried it it, players hated it, and it is being scrapped in the upcoming expansion. 
Studebaker once made cars and was a staple amongst the automotive industry in the US.
They’re not making cars any more.
Doesn’t mean people suddenly don’t like cars
It means they don’t like Studebakers, which is renown in this analogy. 
Tuesday you can get:
1 from soul quest
1 from anima quest
1 from Korthia quest
1 from maw world boss
1 from other world boss
1 from the covenant assault
1-3 from the daily emissary quests (depending on what you have up)
So up to 9 right there. Plus random from raiding and dungeons.
Now, if you havent done the covenant quest before, you still have to do it. That’s another 9 renown anyway. Plus the continuation in Korthia.
I went from 40 renown on an alt to 78 in literally a week by doing my day to day stuff and i never once touched a covenant quest.
