Alts now have to complete the story line to access end game content 10.0 shadowlands

I dont know who decided this but this is literally the worst choice they couldve ever made. The blizz devs decided that if you level an alt in 10.0 in shadowlands to lvl 60 for the prepatch event. The thing thats supposed to get people excited for the next xpac. They decided you need to complete all 4 leveling zone storylines (despite having completed the stories several times on other characters) this wasnt even in the game before. If you did the story once before, all you had to do was get to max level. Now in 10.0 they have ADDED (this is new to the game) the requirement to finish all 4 leveling zones before you can start end game storylines on lvl 60 chars. Which means no covenant choice, no legendaries, no torghast. And before anyone says you can still do the content. Any player above the bottom 20 percent of end game players want at least some of the power that others are playing with. Like legendaries, covenant buffs, soul binds etc. Who ever decided this honestly needs to rethink the purpose of adding content and requirements into a game. Again, This is a new requirement for alts. Its an old requirement for first characters but a new requirement for alts. The purpose should always be based around this question, “will this be something the general playerbase will enjoy” the target being players with more than one character. Wow is an end game centered game. I have done all this content before. Why am i being locked out on an alt that i want to try for the first time in 3 xpacs. Blizzard, stop adding things that actively remove or prevent fun. Its a game not a job. The goal is fun. Forcing players to redo non progressive story for the nth time does not count as player engagement. And if it does in your systems then you guys are still on the wrong path and you are still looking at the wrong things.

Starting Tuesday you can level to 60 in any other expansion.
Then just start the event quest

well if it’s intended, that really sucks for people that will want to play a dracthyr. who the hell wants to go through the entire campaign again just to take the new class through torghast or something

wait i think i’m misunderstanding. are you saying once you’re 60, you still have to finish the SL campaign in order to do the max level content there?

So, after all the time we had, which comes out to… more than one year? You weren’t able to get an alt to do end game content?

Yeah, this makes no sense to me. I don’t even play alts that much and I’m got every class at 60.

WoW Dev A: Hey, guys, how can we make Shadowlands even worse?

WoW Dev B: Let’s require players to finish all four leveling zones before they can start the “end game” stuff!

WoW Dev A: Yea, that’s good, but didn’t we used to do that?

WoW Dev C: Yea, sure, but going back to it will definitely make SL suck even worse than it already does!!!

No one is making you replay Shadowlands.

By all modern definitions of mandatory (required to engage with the current expansion’s active end-game at a competitive level) Shadowlands will be fully optional in 10.0.

If you chose to ignore Shadowlands until then, that’s 100% on you.

Do we know if there is no skip at all at max level with the new leveling?

If this is true, this is a super wonky and a very disconnected choice on Blizzards end.

A level 60 Draggy could blow through all 4 zones in a day or two and still hit up the raids before they’re completely deserted. But yeah, you’re probably not going to see Dracthyr hanging out in Zereth Mortis on the very first day.

Got a source for this? I check wow head daily and have seen nothing on the shadowlands campaign being required for the prepatch event.

Leveling and doing quests are the lowest bar and thus by extension easiest things to do in this game though. Bothering to gear and historically acquire borrowed power post level cap were what was annoying.

As of literally today yes you have to do the leveling story quests before you can do end game stuff

Indeed. This post is fake outrage.

Well the prepatch event isnt live until tomorrow, so that would be normal.

Are you saying its like this on the PTR?

Edit: I misread the title, i thought you were talking prepatch event.

yes and everyone should be up in arms about this. they should just disable leggos and cov in pre patch. shadowlands is over but we still have weeks before df

No. In the live game right now. Im lvl 60 on my alt druid after leveling 5 other characters to max level during shadowlands and never having to finish the story lines on any of them other than my dh. And now i cant do end game content until i finish the story lines. And saying it only takes two days to finish the story quests is a dumb argument. Why is it in the game at all for alts. It was added in 10.0
