I love bodyguards. Having someone else with me to kick faces with without needing another player is one of the best feelings.
But so far all the bodyguard options are limited to specific continents. Which is lame.
I want a more robust bodyguard system, that allows you to take your alts along with you for any adventure you want (outside of instances of course).
When you go to an Inn, the Innkeeper would have a dialog option to ask around for other adventurers in need of work. Doing so would open a menu with all your alts, letting you pick one to be your bodyguard.
Once a bodyguards is picked they will follow you through the open world like past bodyguards, but with no zone restrictions. They’ll go anywhere you go.
It won’t be a perfect copy of your alt. Their level and ilvl would scale with you, and they’d have a simplified ability pool that doesn’t take specialization, talents, or race into account. In essence there would be 12 bodyguards total, and your alts just determine their appearance.
Classes would be divided up evenly between the roles.
DPS: Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, Mage.
Tank: Warrior, Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Monk.
Healer: Paladin, Shaman, Druid, Priest.
Even if you don’t play your paladin as a healer, as a bodyguards they would mainly provide you healing.
As a bodyguard your character looks exactly how they do while playing them, Same mog, same barbershop options. Same weapons, even if the role they’re using doesn’t use that weapon load out.
Alternatively you can save a transmog outfit to be your bodyguard outfit just like you can save certain mogs to certain specs.
If you don’t like bodyguarding with your own characters, you would get the option to unlock past bodyguards for the system.
- WoD bodyguards would require personal Wingman reputation and the completion of their quests.
- Legion bodyguards would get their own personal quests to complete to unlock them.
- Nazjatar bodyguards would require combat level 30.
Once that’s done you can use them anywhere just like one of your alts.
