Alternate to M+ Abandonment system?

  1. If a player leaves or gets kicked out of a M+ dungeon, they get a stacking “Mythic Dungeon Deserter” debuff that lasts for the remainder of the current M+ season.
  2. When a player leaves a M+ dungeon, they cannot engage in Blizzard’s match-making system nor enter any current-season Mythic dungeons for “60 minutes” per “Mythic Dungeon Deserter”.
  3. Hovering over the player’s “Mythic Dungeon Deserter” debuff will show three things:
    • The average percentage of bosses slain per M+ dungeon attempt they either left or were kicked out of.
    • The number of times the player earned “Mythic Dungeon Deserter” via leaving.
    • The number of times the player earned “Mythic Dungeon Deserter” via vote-kick.
  4. In LFG tools, the player’s “Mythic Dungeon Deserter” debuff will show next to their character entry for groups looking to do a M+ dungeon. Both the individual(s) hosting the group and the individual(s) looking to join a group will be able to see each other’s “MDD” statuses.
  5. If a player leaves M+ who did not contribute the M+ key itself, the key is immediately refunded back to the owner who spent it.

There is no need for alternatives, trolls and habitual leavers just need to grow up and finish keys, use the Abandon system, or go guild groups.

Or they need to get fully punished.

Very simple solution: track some hidden internal number of times someone is the first to leave incomplete keys <+12, especially if there has not been a wipe. Hand out escalating bans when they exceed that number.

Size of the safe margin and/or decreasing the counter by .5 or so for each completed key can be tweaked as needed.

Oops, we HAD that system.

No matter what rules you put in place, there’s always someone who will find a way to break it. You can’t punish bad behavior, they will find a way around it. You can’t reward good behavior, it just creates extreme exclusionary tactics.

I spit my drink out at work. Thanks. I have to clean this up now

Mate, either man up and finish it up for the pug. or just leave and take the deserter badge with honor.

I’ve seen multi people leaving after 1 freaking wipe.

There’s a ton of “system doesn’t need to change if people can just simply change.”

The biggest part of what I suggested in the opening post was a feature to educate players on each others’ behaviors. Even if none of the other penalties existed, that alone (public accountability) should deter a lot of things by making it easy for folks to avoid griefers.

Yea, these guys LOOOVE that. Heck, id rather the Mark be invisible, and just start account actioning them.

Thats what everyone is either not getting, or purposefully ignoring. They are trolls. They are not going to stop unless Blizzard stops them.

What I propose is for the first month or so of the season the game keeps track of the success rate of keys for all players at every key level. I believe this would show people that unjustified leaving isn’t nearly that big of an issue and that the vast majority of leavers aren’t trolling or griefing.

It’s always the people who don’t do keys trying to give their opinions on keys.

yeah a bm hunter forcing other people into keys with them as they suck. never heard that one before.

I’ve still yet to see this leaver mark on anyone in groups I’ve signed up for and just today I actually saw my first abandon group (the entire group, minus me, died on the first boss and the leader was the one suggesting we just abandon…I saw the vote pop up and it passed without me voting…which I thought needed to be unanimous but whatever).

I have an incredibly high tolerance for left of bell curves since I almost always value a +1 to vault if nothing else…but there isn’t a chance in the Maw if a group is so bad “I” deem it as non viable to even finish that I’m staying…vote or no vote mark or no mark.

All trying to punish people by limiting their access to LFG will lead to is you left of bell curves finding LESS people to run with…because right of bell curves like myself just won’t pug your keys or be even MORE choosy with what we signup for. If I join and I see people 20+ ilvls under me and too low IO score? I’d just leave and find a better group so as to not risk getting spanked. Currently the risk is we don’t time and if the group is super duper beyond bad, I’ll take that abandon and move on with life…but in a hypothetical world where I’ll be locked out with a stacking “permanent” timer? Eff no I’ll just be more choosy and let the lefties stew in the bottom of the barrel they reside in.

My advice to Tanks (old and new). Do not pug. Find yourself a group, guild, community to play with. Avoid all the PUG drama and you will be much happier. And here’s the crazy thing, you might make a friend or two as well. I know, crazy.

How to kill PUGing in 5 easy steps.

I’m sure this won’t result in a higher percentage of kicks as group leaders see this as a way to abandon a key without a vote…

Just out of curiosity, what value do you think players would gain from this value?

You do realize there is no vote kick for M+, right?

How are you defining contributing to a key? How would you stop a group leader from using that threshold to kick a player up to that threshold and reforming until they get a perfect group?

More importantly, when are any of these suggestions going to actually attempt to curb the behavior that leads to players leaving keys?

Have you ever considered the level of toxicity this will enable as innocent players in keys will face punishments to leave keys with players who are trolling? Even if we assume 100% of those trolls will be actioned based on reports for doing so, how long do we expect that will take and are we okay with them being able to terrorize people until that does happen?

Agreed. Nuke them from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

rage bait troll

Wait is this a list of proposed alternatives or is this all one proposed system?

Then you get a troll who kicks people out of the dungeon when the last boss is sub 1% to get them one of these stacks.

Or players who goes afk and holds the group hostage. Wait for the timer to end or get a stack.

These ideas are bad.
