Despite R14 being easier than ever it still requires hundreds of times more effort from the player than any PvE sets ever made, and an order of magnitude more annoyance required for the weapons than even gathering the swag for gressil.
There is nothing “hard” about getting any of the gear in this game, it just takes time, and PvE in this game isn’t especially skill dependent.
Karazan (pre-nerf) while also easy likely has more “mechanics” than naxx 60 in total… If anything is welfare in this game its PvE loot.
Agree, both are welfare. The difference is that I will guarantee six pieces of pretty good armor, one decent ranged weapon, and two high powered weapons for myself 4 weeks after the initiation of R14 ranking wing.
I’m probably in the minority here but I enjoyed grinding rank 11 on a warlock in AV. I was part of the ‘problem’ that would pick off ally by Belinda and then farm them as we pushed into dun baldar. Games were typically 20-30 mins but it was fun.
I hope blizzard releases ab for rank 12-14 and makes the honor gains competitive with av. I’d prefer if they added in a duo queue so we don’t get the premade farming pug meta but that probably won’t happen.
i remember Blizzard changing things over and over to make sure the alliance couldn’t premade vs. the horde. but it appears the horde are now running pre made AV’s against the alliance. seems like a double standard
well at this point it’s a suspicion. but i find it suspicious when the alliance cannot get a single objective and the enemy raid is 90% from one server and every group has a healer in it. seems like queue synched 5 mans.
There are only 3 servers so this is a normal thing.
You don’t know how the enemy groups are set up.
Group leader usually gives assist all at the beginning and someone sorts the groups (its usually just a shaman and 4 warriors, rest of the groups they don’t really care)
While its true you can be effectively promised a 6pc Set and weapon as I am very well aware, I have several R14’s over time, and that PVE is most certainly not a promise of delivery for sets or weapons, they are indeed an order of magnitude easier to get than any of the PVP items because really you just show up to raid (assuming its a real raid team not a gold buyers team) and play the game that’s also very easy and you have a decent shot at gear assuming your guild is not corrupt. I am lucky because my guild is honest and plays decently enough to do all the content that the game has to offer with what I equate to very minimal effort.
My point being that even tho PVP is easy, PVE is also easy and really there is no such thing as “Welfare” gear in Classic since you really do need to play the game in some format to get it.
Sure there are people who pay RL money for other to farm the honor points or to get gold to buy a carry and be funneled gear, but that’s more rare than real players that really do play the game.
I remember back in OG TBC and the PVE only scrubs were saying that Glad gear was Welfare Epics, and while it was most certainly at that time faster to get, it was by no means welfare gear; especially after Ratings locks were added, but that is a different discussion for a different day.
It’s basically the same way people have been playing AV since late 2006 when the Honor System was removed and replaced with Honor Points for buying rewards. In the final weeks of Classic before TBC launches people will gear out in full R14 gear in a week or so doing what we are doing now. It’s fine.
I mostly just play the objectives and usually end up getting some PVP along the way.
Also, that count down timer at the start of the game was stolen directly from Rift (the MMO) so it’s from around 2011. That wasn’t in the game until then. I remembered that this morning lol.
