There is no F&$^%ing way the Horde should be downing Vann in 6 minutes. It’s obvious there is an exploit or something going on.
Fix it.

Stop letting this happen… DONT MAKE ME LOG ON TO FIX THIS PROBLEM…
A lot of the times they use a pathing exploit so they can just focus Vann and kill him while ignoring the adds. Alliance can do it too, even though to takes a bit more effort.
Still, geared groups on either side can easily OT the adds and heal it, so if Blizzard fixed it things wouldn’t change a whole lot. The main point is that on AV weekends people are looking for quick bonus honour to rank a bit faster. If you want normal games in AV, just skip AV weekend. Every other day in the month you’ll find a nice mix of games.
Not an exploit. It has always been in the game design to where if 100% of the team zerg rushes the boss and treats it as a raid instead of a battleground, then you get super quick wins. 40 people are for sure going to be able to take out the leader of AV when they all rush at the exact same time.
And not to mention, Blizzard nerfed AV quite a bit recently.
If 10-20 people defend those 40 will get wiped and they will have zero control of the map after leading to a likely loss.
The pathing “feature” they use to pingpong the marshals back and forth while not taking any damage is. It’s the same as the one Alliance can do, just a lot easier.
I don’t think every group uses this though.
It is actually a PitA when they do that because they tend to do it with Vann too and dps goes down a lot when he’s running around.
The part where it is an advantage is delaying a reset until the rez wave comes. But that is not part of the rush strat.
I mean, there’s dumb on both sides I guess haha. I just finished a game where the Horde wiped all by themselves, without any help from the Alliance. Then, while we were waiting for towers to burn before killing Drek, someone decided to pull all the WMs outside where people promply engaged and died. Both teams had to run across the map, past each other.
I watched this hilarity unfold from the safety of a tower ![]()
Anyway, I don’t usually defend on AV weekends, but I’ve seen them do the pathing a few times. Definitely to delay a wipe, but that even helps on the rush strategy because if things go south, you can buy yourself that extra time.
This isn’t a “OMG AV sux fix plz Blizz!” statement, just that these are reasons why Horde tend to be able to rush Drek as they can. It’s also why, I’d imagine, so many Horde groups fail at it. You either need good coordination to tank/heal the marshals, or you need someone who is knowledgable and skilled enough to kite them without wiping the group.
Because we live in a world of people trying to mimick what they see on twitch/youtube, it doesn’t go as well as people think it should, which always sparks a hot debate about how bad everybody is in raid chat. Like, I’m just assuming on the latter, I don’t play Horde. Any truth there? ![]()
Telling me you don’t run with a pre made rogue sapper gang just waiting at vann to wipe em?
Sad.
You can also do the same with invis pots and any class.
Pretty much spot on.
LA TORTUGA my little Cezar LA!!
Mi espanol es basura. =/
This is probably part of the reason why there have been next to 0 AV queues recently. And with everyone realizing that AB is the most efficient way to get to R14 now by a massive long shot. Have had 0 AVs pop in almost a week now. ABs have almost 2 dozen going at any given time and WSG has anywhere from half a dozen to a dozen.
Maybe if Blizz didnt make it so possible to zerg rush AV for a quick win and also had it giving out way more honour the way it used to, then yea people might start playing AV again. But as of right now, it really sucks and is not good at anything other than the grind to exalted in it to unlock the gear and the mount.
Im talking SoD AV though. Dont know how non SoD AV is doing if it is good or bad.
That’s really strange. I tend to play around AV weekend but queues were popping like crazy this week. I did my 500k cap over Friday and Saturday (
) and my queues were as fast as 2 minutes and as slow as maybe 12 minutes?
I have noticed a very different quality of games though… last AV weekend, on Friday, 100% of my games were fast losses with nobody arguing, just going and killing LTs while the Horde did their thing. This weekend, on probably 70% of my games there would be a group of Alliance who would try to wipe the Horde. Half the time they would outright fail and the Horde would just sweep them aside (lulz) and the other half they would succeed, which would net us a mix of getting turtled by the Horde, or us just doing the 11-15 min full win strat. There were also a few games where the Horde just hard clashed, failed, and then full turtled on Drek to delay the game as long as possible. It was a weird weekend and I’m kinda glad it’s over, I just wanted my dang cap ![]()
So, people are definitely playing AV still, but I don’t know that Blizzard needds to make a change. I didn’t do much non-weekend games but I did get about 40k on Thursday, and those were in line with my experience for non-AV weekend games. Just your usual mix of PvP offense/defense and interest.
That rush thing only tends to happen on AV weekend and honestly, I like to think of it as a gentleman’s agreement between factions. It ends up being the best honour boost for both sides if folks just do their thing. I love fighting in AV and having actual games, but I figure that four days out of the month (which actually ends up being more like two) isn’t so much that we all need to freak out about this rush strategy.
Is it? Like, genuinely… not sure what would lead you to this conclusion. AB is probably my second favourite BG but it’s really hard to play as a PuG. If you go in as an organized group (or partial) then you get a lot of options, but going in solo really opens you up to the risk of a game where you get absolutely nothing. This is very rare in AV, you almost always come away with some honour progress for your time. Even if the game is going turtle you can afk out with something because the LTs have typcally been wiped by then. Unless you have an organized team to queue with, AV seems like it would be the safer bet.
If you’re just there for PvP and not Honour though, AB is a wonderful BG. I used to enjoy it a lot back in the day. I’ll probably spend more time in there once I do get to R14 since it’s hard to contribute a lot with the current class/spec I want to play unless you have a bit of gear ![]()
