Alterac Valley in Classic

This one sentence completely throws out the “ZERG RUSH GAMES WILL DESTROY AV AND THEY WONT LAST 30 MINUTES JUST LIKE IN RETAIL QQQQ”

Hooray!

Yup. Ive been in the same boat. Im having so much fun with AV RN without reinforcements and all the speed-up mechanics they have added since Wrath to make AV the fast paced game it is now

Here’s a good article on the history of AV and changes.
Terrain changes started in 2.3.
It’s quite possible that changes post 1.12 have bled through and are in the beta. There are already several bug reports about odd behavior/missing items…stuff that got changed over the years and has not been fully restored to it’s 1.12 form.

Please reconsider your plan! Let Classic AV be Classic AV. It’s ok for one of your battlegrounds to be unique. AV’s hilariously remembered “long, long days in Alterac” were what made it fun! We loved it the way it was originally it was the only BG I’ve ever really enjoyed, an onion with many layers to be peeled off…it took strategy, persistence, and group effort to achieve. Bring back those days! It felt like a real war, the only WoW BG that does! I earned exalted with AV back then, with those conditions because it was the ONLY BG I enjoyed enough to play that long.

Reading over some beta forum comments on AV:

Premade rogues get a weapon choice of : dagger, dagger or dagger.
Premades are skewing heavily towards frost mages
Groups are trying to zerg to the end skipping stuff (that means little to no testing)
Some premade classes have no mounts.

Now imagine them being L60, epic mounted, geared and talented the way they want.

Can you say “faceroll”
The AV we all came to hate.

No it doesn’t. After one month of 1.12AV every one will know that rushing is the fastest way to earn honor and marks in 1.12AV. And that is what you will get in 99% of games, a rush to the end.

It won’t be long till we start hearing people say “Let them win, it’s the fastest way to earn honor!”

True. I don’t remember what expansion it was but when I played my rogue I’d go to the mines cause I’m horrible at melee pvp.
And I recall I got yelled at quite a few times when everyone was told to get to Drek. Heck they weren’t capturing anything, skipping Belinda and not even waiting on timers. Rush in and focus dps down everything.

I stopped queueing up after that.

Perhaps, but only until the people who are only there for gear get their gear.

Have you read any of the discussions about 1.12AV? That is the only reason most people will do it is for the gear. So when they get those rewards AV will become a ghost town. Only to be populated on AV bonus weekend.

Correct.
At the moment, retail player betatesters are in reinforcement mode. They are also only L58. Once they realize that it is more efficient to avoid PVP and head straight for the generals, that is what will happen. Just as it did in vanilla 1.12.

Then all the pro-fast-AV people (who do not like any iteration of the BG) will get their gear, then toss the BG over their shoulder. Leaving a hollowed out ghost of what the BG was supposed to be in their wake.
But hey, it made them happy to get the faster MoHs/Gear, and that’s all that matters.
Screw those who actually liked to play early AV because it was actually fun and a different experience.

Yes there’s a lot of people first off lying about 1.12 AV just being a zerg, it wasn’t in vanilla and there’s no reason to think it will be in classic, and a lot of people claiming that the only people who like 1.12 AV just want gear. Both of which are false.

I love anti classic trolls pointing to a beta of AV and claiming that people are “lying” about it’s zergability once live. Pointing to something where there is no rush for MoHs, no honor rewards to fight to gain, players are not max level for the BG, none are endgame geared, many (most?) are in reinforcement mode, no incentive whatsoever to even finish the BG.

I’m claiming people are lying about it being zerged in vanilla. It wasn’t.

Calling people liars while providing a lie as “proof”.
How quaint.

And where is your proof that every single game in 1.12 was a zerg?

It did turn into a zerg. But I’m not sure when.

Having never made that claim, why would I need proof?

This is what you just posted:

It was zerged in 1.12. See the difference?
Words matter. Especially when you toss the “lies” word around.

Are BG specific marks of honor in beta? Does the gear require BG specific ones?

BG specific Marks of honor were not in the game until so, so, sooo late. I don’t even remember them it was so late into the game, but I know they will make PvP worse. Just another bad decision by out of touch developers that don’t understand that WoW was being ruined MID classic(near the end, around naxx) and not just during WOD/BFA/Legion.

I really hope BG specific marks of honor are not in the game, they turned bgs into “win win win” instead of “go pvp for fun” and forced people to do BG’s they did not enjoy which in turn caused people to scream and cry about av/wsg taking “too long” because they were only there for their marks of honor and didn’t actually enjoy the BGs.

It’s just baffling, why would you put in your awful design choices that led to where the game is now, in a classic version of the game, that simply does NOTHING except speed up the process of gearing in a game that has 2.5 years of content up dates then simply dies?

Why would you want to make people get gear faster in a classic version of a game that won’t get content updates?! Shouldn’t you be putting the slowest, most grueling and grindy version of everything in because the game IS LITERALLY GOING NOWHERE?!
