Alterac Valley balance changes, patch 8.1

I suspect not many remember this, but if you go LEFT of the big tank in the Alliance keep, you can get to the Aid Station flag without aggro-ing the NPCs.

Most of the games have gotten longer👍🏼

If Horde changed from mindless zerg losses to playing defensively, then so can Alliance. You don’t even understand how many times I used to try to convince the raid to defend Galv or even just back cap, but they were always like “we don’t want to be here all day. I’d rather have a quick loss than a long win”.

Well I see more defending now at least. Hopefully everyone who bothers with the epics do so because they want a great game no matter how long. Since a loss gives them nothing eventually they may see that doing what it takes to win is more time efficient than losing 3 or 4 in a row.

I know there’s been some conquest rewarded for close losses, even that will make for better games if it has to be close.

lets just forget the past 14 years that alliance could just run to the horde so…lets make it harder for the horde boss …lol.

cant wait for classic av to come back.

Why is alliance getting more leg ups in AV? Seriously? So they change our start point making it ridiculously easy win if horde rush, They have the best choke point into their boss with archers. Do blizzard even play bg’s?

Classic AV was the most unfair map ever made.

I can only hope they move the Horde cave back. It was a huge handicap.

They changed the Horde cave in 2007, and the Horde still won.

We just went over the bridge.

Go and read about the minor map changes before bringing up ancient news.

Maybe they should queue for a random instead of an epic. Jeez

As if Alliance can’t win AV. AV favors good teams, not faction.

In all fairness, I won every AV I queued for yesterday on this guy as Horde.

You know what’s hilarious though? On horde side when they start losing (because too many on the team are playing stupidly) there is a continuing chorus of wailing that “blizz gave alliance [SHGY] advantage” and other such defeatism.
Even when the game is still quite winnable. And then the crybaby/poor-player hordies drown out the more reasoned approach of those who know what to do (stop pushing needlessly and defend the IB choke, get mines, stay alive/die less, etc.). I think even if blizz hadn’t changed a thing there’d still be a lot of horde crying about alliance having an unfair advantage. So yeah, there are plenty of :clown_face:s on horde side too.

That doesn’t make for better games; it’s just a booby prize for a different form of poor play.

The difference is that it resulted in a guaranteed win for Horde, and no improvement in win chance for Alliance. Playing defensively is not what the Alliance need to learn.

is it alliance privilege? is that what they need to learn?

Right now, the best Alliance strategy is to gamble on a fast win and take the fast loss if we don’t get the win. This seems to result in about a 30% win rate, as opposed to the maybe 10% win rate from defending.

why does alliance HAVE to win in AV again tho? after 300 years of an automatic free win in AV, horde finally starting playing smart and blizzard instantly sneaks in another HUGE map advantage. the win rates were split 50/50 as evidenced by blizzards own numbers

they did this same thing years ago when they moved the horde starting cave. what do you call it when alliance complains they dont win AV 100% anymore and blizzard changes the AV map in favor of alliance again?

alliance privilege

What map advantage? The Stonehearth change helps Horde as much as it does Alliance.

Horde victim complex.

then why not advocate for reversing the change then

Is complaining about a change from 11 years ago the new excuse for those that don’t understand AV?

With all the demands to mirror AV, why whine about a change that did that?
