Alt Question!

Hello everyone!!

How many alts do you guys play effectively ? Like getting KSM or Elite set pvp, doing Heroic Raids, Getting decent gear.

is 5 to much to handle?

I have this main charcter and i want to become good with him,but i also want to be good playing with other classes, is there a thing like “main alt?” or is waist of time?

Depends on the expansion, but for DF I mained Evoker and completed my mythic plus goals with that character and had a lot of casual alts that I geared through timewalking and LFR for fun. My Druid, Leoley, did a couple of casual low keys and I might complete normal raids today for the achievement. My Druid is my first character and will always be home for me.

Other than that, I only complete main goals on one character.

I have probably 7 serious toons.

I like to have a “main” in each role and usually more than one in the tanking role. I run into the 2-2.5k m+ score. not pushing endgame hard, but hard enough for me

I play 4 tanks pretty regularly (VDH, prot warrior, BDK, guardian druid)
one healer: resto shaman
two dps: BM Hunter, afflock

for TWW, I am thinking of just running the druid to start because it can do every role and the dynamic flying in druid flight form will make gathering super sweet.

I am still not really sure yet how the whole warband system works yet. as I get into it, I might change my approach. but I think it will help keep alts current.

I dont main anything.
Starting with leveling all classes I enjoy the most. Then after i focus on one.
Top 1. Evoker. Monk. Druid. Paly. DK.
Next. Warlock. DH. Shaman.
Last. Rogue. Priest.
Probably not going to touch at all hunter, mage, warrior.

By that standard, none I guess.

I do have all my alts at 25/25/30/30/20/20 renown with DF factions.
(But I guess today is the last day that matters)

Completely depends on how much time you have/your overall goals/etc. And for the sake of KSM/Heroic Raids, whether or not you’ve got the skill for that role/class (or gold if you feel like getting a carry).

I myself have done nothing you’ve mentioned in DF since I just started playing again. However, since BC (Vanilla I only played Warrior) up to SL, I’ve had a “main” in every role with usually 2-3 tanks fully geared.

Depending on TWW and balancing, I’ll stick to my usual 1 of each role as a main with a couple extra tanks. However, I will add, I have a lot of free time compared to the average player. 2 on-1 off work schedule.

I keep trying to keep it to one character when a new expansion comes out, but it never lasts, lol. I end up with 8-12 by the time its all said and done.
This time i think its 17 total lol.

Edit…to clarify…I only go so far in the storyline. I dont do end game and so not overly interested in getting to the end of the story, usually.

I usually get AOTC and ksm on my first toon and then don’t sweat it on my alts and just play them for fun without thinking about it.

Normally I only do end game stuff on one character, but in S4 I did KSM and all portals with both my shaman and hunter. Portals on two characters was redundant, but that was before they were confirmed to become account-wide. Oh, I also did the Awakened Raids/HC/AotC on both characters.

I don’t really know which of the two characters to main in TWW. But I do know I’ll only do end game content with one of them - otherwise I’ll burn out and stop playing.

I’m a solo player, but I have 5 alliance on MG and 5 horde on WrA that are all around 480-490ish.

I don’t do 5 per season, but I switch it up. I usually do healers (Druid/Priest/Shaman) - I’ve done a season with AOTC/KSM on a lock, a season with KSM on a Monk and DK tank.

If I truly wanted to, any of my 64 toons “could” do AOTC or KSM. But not in 1 season. I get bored quickly so I switch up what I play every season. Though my desire to do content on a rogue or any melee is so low I never do, but I know I “could” if I cared enough to.

I currently have 13 level 70s (and one in RePanda) , but don’t do much end game beyond LFR. I did do a couple keys with my pally for the weekly but nothing beyond that. I don’t play more than 15 hours a week, usually 10-11 so it’s not a time thing. My goal is to get my toons all to max “veteran track” at least, with my pally to max possible WITHOUT using mythic crests which I’ll never get. It’s been harder in S4 so I won’t get there. Probably do the same for TWW. :speak_no_evil::hear_no_evil::see_no_evil:

I have nearly sixty characters.

I only raid heroic on 2-3 a season (and the alts don’t do heroic until we’ve cleared heroic at least once in the season, raid leader’s orders, which is fair enough)

I would only bother doing KSM/H (though I tend to get bored before I earn either) on 2-3 toons too.

The rest just do soloable stuff. LFR/LFD, world stuff.

I’m an altaholic, but only focus on between 1-3 characters throughout an expansion. The biggest hurdle for me is having to repeat the same content on each character. I get bored doing it on a single character, nevermind multiples.

I used to actively play 3-4 if doing max reward keys is the benchmark. My max was 12 back in Legion but mostly was focused on class hall and normal raid content (not on all but as the mood struck).

DF has been a significant letdown of an expansion especially considering SL which I legit actually thought was a great expansion. Not only did I never bother to even level the alt army (something I’ve always done in every past expansion during the final lull), but I barely manage even the 1 day heroic clear and mostly quit doing keys. I’ve had more fun the first month of remix than I have all of DF.

If I had my motivation, I could do 3-4 “mains” pretty reasonably if limiting it to heroic raid and 4ish keys per week. I don’t like to pug but I will if I have to and the people I feel are on my wavelength I’ll look to add and keep around making alts/future runs quicker and more reliable. It really doesn’t take near as long to plow through the weekly chores if you are organized and competent.

Edit - My real max was actually 36 back in WoD if you want to count actively played…I leaned hard into class/spec fantasy and finished my project of making 1 character per spec (at the time) plus I had a few extras. I had tier 3 garrisons with a full inn of treasure hunter followers on all of them and most everyday I actually logged into each of them to get my gold and send them back out. It was often all I did that day but I still was part of a heroic raid team doing the regular 1-2 days of raid nights. It helped a lot that WoD was completely devoid of any kind of meaningful content being a raid or die expansion. I’m still sitting on millions of gold on 2 servers from those days (helps on one of them I don’t play those toons anymore).

I just play one character each season to aotc and ksm. I usually play 2-3 alts that I’ll do a little m+ and raiding on, but mostly just goof around with.

I have 2 that I get KSH on each season with all portals. It isn’t too bad keeping both of them geared (both are 527ish geared). But I can definitely see that a 3rd or more will be more work than I intend to put in.
