"alt" not working sometimes

Hello, good afternoon.

Yesterday I started having an issue that I don’t even know how to explain or what could be causing it.

I use “ALT” for my keybinds (alt+1, alt+2, etc.), and yesterday I noticed that the “alt” key was intermittently failing — only in certain moments — and I can only reproduce the issue when I’m fighting many enemies. It fails as if I’m not pressing it, even when I’m pressing it firmly.

The issue happens even when I disable ALL addons, and it seems to be only with the “alt” key. I also tested replacing the keybind with “shift” and went to fight multiple enemies — and had no issues at all. I have no idea what this could be, and nothing like this has ever happened before.

The “alt” key works normally everywhere else — in other programs — and even in-game it works perfectly if I just test it on dummys.

EDIT: Just to clear of the way, just tested with another keyboard, error still happening…im lost i dunno what to do

At first glance it sounds like your keyboard/key is failing.

Do you have another keyboard you can swap out to test with?

At first I thought it could be that too, I tested it on other programs and websites that check keyboards and nothing happened. So I decided to go to Dornogal and test on the dummys, and I can stay there for hours using the ‘Alt + something’ keys without any issues. One detail I also noticed is that the keys don’t fail if I’m moving, fighting like in a PvP situation, for example. But if I stay still at a certain moment, they stop working in the game.

How many other keys/inputs are you pressing at the same time when it fails? Might be reaching an input limit. You could also be triggering something else on your system when using the alt key, like an overlay.

happens to me often on my old blackwidow keyboard :wink:

when i notice it i spam the problematic key HARD with all my might like 30 times and then it’s fine for a couple more months lol

this happens to me and several guildies as well, normally we realize it’s happening because our L and K keys stop working, and then when you wiggle(they really made me change the J to a W and said the word wigg with a J is not allowed… WHAT???)/tap the Alt key it totally stops and everything works again… it’s… really aggaravating and it’s NOT my keyboard, i play many many other games and use many other programs and never ever ever have issues like that lol

i main a mistweaver, so the keys i press are:

alt+q - jadefire stomp
alt+1 (2 times) - tiger palm
alt+3 - rising sun kick
alt + 2 - blackout kick

none of then are at the same time, sometimes in midle of fight i keep pressing alt and press 1 many times.

but again, i never have this error in my entire time playing the game ( since final legion)
and when i test on the dummys it never fails

nvidea ovarlay is disable, but to make sure i changed the keys to not have alt
