Alt gearing is impossible, GG blizz

Once again Blizz shows they have no clue what they are doing removing pvp scaling or pvp templates. Right now, gearing an alt is near impossible. You literally cannot beat even the worst player in the game if they have even the basic 200 ilvl honor gear. It’s absolutely unreal how low effort Blizz dedicates to pvp. This is far from an alt friendly xpac that Ion promised.

They address this in 9.1 I believe.

People that say “get good” are definitely wrong. I’ve have full 226 gear of my main and the difference is palpable when I’m facing 200 ilvl people.

I’m not sure I agree it’s impossible to gear alts, but it’s much harder than it should be. I’ve been trying to gear alts and 90% of the time I’m facing people at least one tier of PvP gear ahead of me, usually two or more. People say most boosters are around 1700-1800, and while I also think that is true, the entire ladder in my experience is filled with overgeared people for the bracket. It’s actually an oddity to see someone, for instance, in the 1400-1600 bracket with 207 ilvl gear.

Can you beat a lot of them? Yes. But it’s just bad game design to be constantly on an uneven playing field. This results in a super grindy play experience. And you better play with friends, because so many people in LFG leave after 2 games after taking an hour to find them.

I don’t know why people trust whatever Ion says at this point. I’m pretty sure he’s not even really human. I think he’s some animatronic old robot that EA somehow acquired from the Old Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney world. They just programmed it to understand legal jargon, make promises and answer softball questions during interviews. They’ve made fools of all of us.

we run 210+ yolo’s and farm lower gear voice premades all day

cuz gear matters more than the extra ‘skill’ and coordination from voice

not exaggerating or joking, literally farm them with a yolo pug of higher gear between 210 and 225 while they are largely 200-215

then run into a wall on equal geared voice premades

That’s not true, you can get 197 quite fast with covenant + honor gear and you play a class that doesn’t rely as much on gear as other classes so you should be able to climb quite easily to 1400 then 1600 and if you’re better than the average gamer 1800.

It is easy to get to 197i just farming anima and leveling Covenent gear and world quests/boss. Then do a piece at a time exchanging a piece without Vers with a piece with Vers while making sure to do a win in each Area for 110 conquest which then qualifies you for a weekly conquest vault giving you 2 or more pieces of 200 conquest gear a week. Then join RBG and super easy to push 1400 to raise gear to 207 with 1 piece of 235 Legendary.

Is it easy, no, is it “near impossible” not even close.

The problem is people think they can ding 60 and go tight into BGs and think they should be competitive. Go grind your covenent quests, world quests, world bosses, get your gear score to 197ish and then hit the BGs and have a chance of being impactful. If you go before then you are just expecting a carry.

This just misses the mark completely. Even with 197 gear you are facing 213 to 220 ilvl people on a regular basis even at low brackets. Even if you can beat them, it’s just a chore to play against because gear does matter.

I don’tind the pvp gearing process as much as some. The only 2 grips I have are make honor account wide and remove the cov honor gear gates. I got my BrM monk to renown21 last night and needed one bastion world quest to get to 22. Guess what there was none. So now I have to wait to get 22. And Ilvl 197

Good lord I just want them to go back to the old design of 2 tiers of pvp gear and not like 10

Put noob in 226 gear and a 3300 xp on a 197 character and the noob would win the duel

Gear matters the most probably in wows history

100% gear matters, but you are competitive unlike what you were when you just dinged 60. The whole point is to position yourself in a position to more easily be able to upgrade your gear. When you have all 197 and a couple of 200s and a 235 you will be 203ish and able to join a RBG and contribute and get your 1400 rating to be able to further upgrade you gear as well as farm conquest to get more 200 pieces.

I told you exactly how to do it and within a week you could be 200+ and have a clear path to getting better gear. If you expect it to be faster then you are just lazy and don’t understand how MMOs work.

When I get to that point I farm instances. I have got a bunch of renoun just doing them. A normal instance doesn’t take long and about 1/3 maybe give a renoun.

No, not a chance. Skill is still a contributing factor… but if you put people who are relatively close in skill, yes, gear has a great effect. Which hasn’t changed since Vanilla. The difference between an unrated player (200-203) and a 1800 rated player is 34k and 40k HPs which is a lot but not insurmountable.

This is the main issue. Two gear sets should be:

213 at 1400
226 at 1800
Only “extra layer” should be 233 weapon at 2100.

The best solution though if they want to keep PvP gear able to be used in PvE through upgrading it’s ilvl (instead of using the WoD gearing method) would be to just make all PvP gear scale to a minimum of 220 in rated content, and that gives people with 226 gear only a slight advantage for their hard work.

I start a lot of RBG teams using LFG to get my alts to 1400. It is rare someone over 210 applies and a vast majority are 190-205.

Oh, then that’s fine I guess. They’ve only had 17 years to figure this out, another 3 months and they’ll stop intentionally ruining the player experience in every imaginable way.
