I was thinking shaman…but then again I’m not sure. What do yall think
play something different than the way the basic role of a mage is. So you got a range magic damage dealing caster class that is good at 1v1 fights and aoe. USes mana
Roll a…
Warrior or Rogue to get the feel for melee classes
Or healz/support
Shaman, druid, Priest, Paladin
or
hunter,
ranged phsyical dmg but still using mana
Play strictly fire mage if you do another mage. Or, do what Wormboy stated, level a melee, or a melee with hybrid options. Besides, levelin’ a melee will make ya more survivable on your mage against the smart melee players out there. Maybe level each of the melee classes to at minimum level 10, I’d personally say at least level 20 (especially for druid and paladin).
Leveling a warrior to 60 and gearing for that sweet BiS was rough but a enjoyable experience!!
For sure go for a warrior:) you’re going to die a ton outside of dungeons!! In fact I could barley solo quests up to 55+
Tanking is a lot of fun tho!! If you spam runs you might develop some wrist pain… prot rotation can be a bit tricky to get use to! Especially when you hit ZF it really shows if you know your rotation or not!
Shamans are deadly boring and you have to listen to the thwock, thwock, thwock of your totems all day.
I went rogue and hunter. I hate wind up spells so hard.
This post makes me feel a lot better about dying 3-5 times per 6 hours on my lvl 42 warrior. Cheers
Np! Heres my 60 warrior! You really don’t see the difference until you start getting pre raid BiS then you kill things faster then they can kill you! But prot warrior is still depressing at 60 and locks you into pve, unless you swap to arms on the side for pvp, but still fury will always run circles around you x).
Per advice from my guild, I am sticking out Arms spec to 60, and will likely rotate fury for end game!
Thanks for the replies everyone. I’m stuck between druid and shaman atm. TBC is heavily in my reasoning on this alt (if it ever comes out)
I think its safe to say were going to be getting TBC once classic finishes up. Tough choices tho! I love druids myself and I really love shamans! haha, best of luck!!
If that’s the case - Paladin
I started a rogue as an alt when I hit the “what to do at 60” wall. Ive found him fun because the rogue floor is a lot lower than warrior due to 5% hit, eventual expertise talent, and being human getting 5 extra skill.
Still lots of dodges/parries and white misses sometimes, but still a lot better than lowbie warrior leveling.
Am shaman, can confirm.
Resto shaman rule as raid healers… and their tool kit is INSANE for any possible situation in BC…
If I can add something extra to the equation:
As much as you might not love the idea of the added expense, make a different account to level on. You can use your mage to help power level your alt, solo elite quests, run yourself through most dungeons up to SM, and if you get stuck choosing between farming for gold or leveling - you can do both. Park your mage in DM with your alt and do dogs/lashers over and over while he leaches XP.
Once you’re done and hit 60, transfer him to your main account, unless you don’t mind the extra 15/mo. I do this, but I also have tons of retail gold. I don’t think I’ll have to pay for a sub anytime in the near future.
This so much!
I actually use 3 accounts and level 2 toons at a time using either my shaman or my druid to run them through lower level instances and get all the drops I am looking for.
Current set is a warrior and mage with my 60 resto druid PLing… literally plowing though stuff non stop and doing quests that are red/orange with ease.
To each her/his/x own. I quite enjoy the shaman over the paladin. Faction specific classes are such a nostalgic experience to have again.
if you want to switch it up and heal go for h pali. granted my first character was a pali and i have experience in vanilla with them they are very fun healing with. so much utility and fat heals. give it a try
The boring bit is subjective. Totem sounds being awful is objective.
