Just a note Blizz - your new restrictions on available dungeons are really irritating and make no sense. I had a number of healers levelling up via dungeons prior to SL launch. I’ve just gone to look at them now, and I find:
- Only BfA dungeons available. Nothing in game whatsoever to tell me why it’s changed. No breadcrumb to go to Chromie, just no info whatsoever. I just suddenly have the available dungeons severely restricted.
- Stupidly long dungeon times. Researching this, it seems that if I wait 15 mins I should have the option to queue for additional dungeons, but why would you make me wait 15 minutes before giving that option? I’m not questing, I’m levelling via dungeons. They used to pop much more frequently than every 15 minutes, now I have to wait?
- I finally got into my BfA dungeon, and second mob we come across is unkillable (Shadowblade stalker in Atal’Dazar). As in, I assume, bugged. Just keeps healing to full. Not casting to heal, no buff or debuff to heal. Literally just all damage done is healed immediately. People leave group. I leave group. Can’t queue again because of deserter.
I’ve been enjoying SL on my main, but then stuff like this happens, and I just don’t get it. Why do you go out of your way to make stuff hard? Literally, why? If you want new players to experience the relevant dungeons to the expansion they’re playing through, fine. But I’ve been playing since 2006. I don’t care about the story. I just want to queue for dungeons, and have them pop as quickly as possible.
The two nice things about doing dungeons were firstly, that I learn to heal, and secondly that I was getting various transmogs. Now what, I just wait heaps longer to do the same ones over and over because I’m limited to the ones from the expansion I choose when I work out how or where to find Chromie? Sounds fun, can’t wait.

You can only queue for dungeons that are in the chromie time you take. If you don’t take a chromie time, you get BfA. Many people just chill out next to Chromie, pick a timeline… queue dungeons until they get all the “good” ones done, and then switch to the next timeline.

Thanks, I’ll try to sit near Chromie… But this is really convoluted, and sitting near her doesn’t change the additional queue time from this system. I also still find it hard to believe that there is no in-game info about Chromie for existing characters, and no explanation as to why you have no dungeons to choose from.
Also, are Classic dungeons just impossible to queue for now? You can’t choose classic via Chromie, so assume these are only doable with a pre-made group and going to the entrance? That’s a lot of dungeons missing from group finder, and it’s real shame if that’s the case.

Vanilla doesn’t exist anymore in the current game. All those 1-60 dungeons of old are part of the “Cataclysm” expansion in Blizzards mind. And yes, I know it is all quite janky way of doing things. Blizzard has their feedback to let players queue any expansion dungeon though.

I’ve locked them all in my basement.
If it puts the lotion on the skin can we get loot again?

Ion made the game he wants to play… alts are only for those that can play 30-40 hours, otherwise partake in the rewardless insane grinds or go play cyberpunk.

I just need to add, I’ve just done some Legion dungeons on an alt or two… not only have they reduced the dungeon choice this way, but the scaling is awful as well.
My level 16 shaman was one-shot by the spider webs on the floor at the bottom of Vault of the Wardens, and the group I just had with my mistweaver monk (also 16) couldn’t get past the first boss in Black Rook Hold, not just because healing with only 2 spells available is difficult and mana intensive, but because his Swirling Scythe ability again just killed anyone low level instantly (there was another level 16 as well).
I just want to congratulate Blizzard on a job well done.

Being able to get useful gear from each expansion’s dungeons while leveling is very nice, but I honestly kind of miss the way that leveling and instance queuing used to be before Blizzard added the scaling to everything.
I feel like it’s a point to be made that they are ruining what they had just like they did with warcraft 3. I am starting to wonder why did they make the game an rpg, and then turn it into god knows what it actually is now? I can’t really even grasp at what exactly they are even making at this point. It’s not an rpg, it’s not a hack & Slash, it’s barely an adventure game now since they did the level nerf. The whole situation with Blizzard to me is questionable as a company at best. I hope this isn’t too forward, but that’s my opinion.
I have no qualms with blizzard, my main point is they shouldn’t fix what isn’t broken. Because right now everything is broken, and nothing really needed to be fixed.

If only they’d been able to, I don’t know, delay the expansion in some way until they could work out the scaling issues in their shiny new and improved leveling experience.
I mean that depends do you consider it “shiny” or “new”? Because to any classic player this is like going back to square one classic style with extra steps to get to places like using chromie to dungeon hop instead of messages. It’s almost like they re-invented classic, and as I said just gave it extra steps.
Though don’t get me wrong, I still like the game, but I can’t deny what I am experiencing.
Hey there. To get classic dungeons do this:
Visit Chromie.
Select return my to my current timeline. I do this each time when changing to a different timeline just to be safe.
Now from here, select Cataclysm expansion. Now you can queue all the classic dungeons. At a certain level it defaults to Cata dungeons. Just use the drop down in dungeon finder and select random classic dungeons. All done.
I have a little system now for leveling alts in Shadowlands.
At level 30 when I get flying I swap to legion up to Dalaran hearthstone and first legendary. Next, WOD - Iron horde until garrison hearthstone and garrison level 2 ( it’s really quick). Then Pandaria intro to unlock portal. Then back to Cataclysm timeline for more dungeon grinds.
At about level 45ish I do BFA to get portal room unlocked ( again very quick ) and set my hearth there.
By then you should be 46 to 47 and super close to Shadowlands intro quest pop at 48.
I’ve followed this pattern now on about 5 character, as I am leveling all tanks to 50 to get a feel for them. It works, and breaks up the monotony of straight dungeon grinding while unlocking some nice hearthstone options.
Granted if dps, you’d have to do some questing between queues lol.
Good luck!

Regardless the point I think is being made is, they fixed what wasn’t broken. Now things are tedious, and people just want it not to be so damn tedious. As a man who does tedious S*** constantly, I have no real room to speak for that right. Though as someone who’s actually worked on mods though I realize not the same a company made game. I tend to make things as comfortable as possible for my fellow downloaders when making something. I make it for other peoples perspectives not just my own. I feel like blizzard though don’t quote me on this it’s just an opinion, “Has lost it’s perspective on what they want vs what the people want.”

Not gonna lie, Cyperpunk looks like such a crap game
True, but the plethora of bugs makes it hilarious to watch lol.
If a triple A title doesn’t get released with bugs does it even count as a real game these days?
Thanks for this! Currently levelling just dungeons with my healers (and yeah, found the vanilla dungeons and haven’t had anymore one-shot problems with those, thankfully), but this is excellent info as far as what do to for travel options, so appreciate you sharing it.
Still wish I could just queue randomly and access all options that way, as it removes some of the tedium, but at least I can work around it now. Now I just need to get that one alt that’s parked in Desolace back to Stormwind…
Ah yes. My little ritual every couple of days of finding something introduced with Shadowlands that is incredibly BADWORDing stupid.
I am fully using the bad argument technique of appealing to authority. I was a decent programmer.
Obfuscating the queue for vanilla dungeons is just stupid. If there is an internal reason, fine, but you changed the customer facing experience with no explanation, no instructions, and, worst of all, no reason.
I should stop being shocked by such throw-away stupidity, but I can’t. This is like living in town, with a sidewalk outside of your small yard and replacing the overhanging branches with invisible bricks.
Who gives a shart if someone hits their head right? Because you… improved… the front of your house?
SO STUPID!!
GRAH!

This is a gripe from me as well all the leveling the dungeon options should just be on the LFG finder.
