Alt codes in names

Do you have alt codes in names? Why?

No. I accept that someone got the name first.

I do, because I name all of my characters the same so there isn’t any confusion

Nope. But then again I have names that don’t need alt codes for almost every character I have because of the last few name releases.

Nope!

I’d think I was too basic if I couldn’t think of a unique name.

I do love the auto generated name Dervish for my hunter though. One of my favourites.

This is the only one only because I screwed up saving the name …and cause I can :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve used this name for over 10 years and I refuse to not use it because someone got it first on this server.

Swalsh. Sean Walsh.
SwĂĄlsh.
ĂĄ looks like the symbol for Earth/home on the Stargate- one of the best shows ever
I didn’t steal anyone’s username. It’s not basic.

All of my characters are named some form of Bobbo. When I ran out of prefixes I tried to call one Bobbo, but the name isn’t available. I replaced B with beta and it worked.

I have a few across both factions, mostly because I was pretty invested in a name in my mind or if I had it on another server and wanted to move it but it already existed on the server it was heading to. I don’t stress it, it’s just a name.
Half of the names people use in this game aren’t “real” names anyway. /shrug

I’ve had this as an actual name/nickname most of my adult life. I server transferred and had to change it. The first time I ever used an alt code and wish I didn’t have to.

It does bring a certain anonymity to it though which is fine to avoid random whispers.

No, and because it’d drive me bonkers to know I have them. The idea of someone having to mail me something and me having an alt code in my name makes me twitch.

I have nothing against other people with alt codes. But I would never do it.

Nope. I accept that someone else took the name I wanted. Its not hard to come up with something else. Nothing against those who use them though.

I used to use them, thinking it looked semi-fantasy like. I changed my mind though, now I think it looks childish. But there are exceptions. For example, Professor Vectør looks a bit foreign and people would pronounce it differently I suppose.

No, alt codes look terrible. I’d rather have a slightly mispelled name.

yes because it is the proper spelling for my name, which is Spanish for “curse”

I’ve used them before on very populated realms. I figure if I try a few names and nothing works I’ll then try out the alt coded version of one I wanted. As long as it looks nice why not.
