ALT-characters are just as bad as Numbers in names

I use alt codes and don’t care if others do. They pay for the game like everyone else.

I personally hate them because it makes it harder to send mail, invite, or look someone up. I have had to see the person’s name, determine which alt code(s) is even being used, then looking up that alt code so I could copy it into the name so I could search for the person. It makes things very frustrating.

Of course, Blizzard could do something to help with these naming issues, but they don’t. I won’t lie, it’s part of why I won’t play on certain realms. I don’t want to give up my name for some of my characters.

I’m the real Shadows. Every alt code version is an imposter.

if you use alt characters your pretty much telling the world you dont want to be invited to guilds, dungeons…anything that involves a person typeing your name in to achieve that purpose …

I’ve got a few. I guess with those characters I’m anti social enough that I don’t need to get invited to anything, nor have I ever tried to invite someone with those characters to something, so I don’t have any issues. If I try to send an item via email to one of my alts they pop up with the first letter, so no problems there either. I don’t go nuts though, usually just one alt code because I’ve decided on a name and refuse to pick another. Most randomized names are trash.

I hate alt characters in names.

Just whisper them and ask what the alt codes are. If they dont know themselves then theyre not worth inviting lol

Never bothered me personally.

Your name is already a violation. I would take Xs over special characters anyday.

I forget my characters have names. I am normally referred to as "“Hey druid” or “Why are you feral?” lol

This character has always been a Wiccan, and when I rerolled him on Wyrmrest Accord I had few options. Whomever has the non alt-code version of the name isn’t doing anything with it either; there is no armoury, not even a low-level banking alt.

I’ve been waiting for four years for the name. :frowning:

Semi-funny story (maybe). I was in a BG recently and said, “I agree with the monk.” The monk responded with “I have a name.” And I told him, yeah it’s “monk.” Not gonna lie, when I’m doing stuff in content like that, I see class colors and I see roles, that’s it. I don’t have time to read names, and some names are just really weird. So you get “tank” or “hunter” or whatever it is. I get the same thing in return.

“Über” should be acceptable.

Me too. I speak a few languages that use accents and diacritics all the time so I can’t stop myself from pronouncing them. It’s really annoying.
