Alt Character Naming

I’ll admit it. I have used alt characters when trying to keep my names the same over multiple realms but with a fresh start in classic I wouldn’t mind seeing Blizzard lock out those characters on the NA servers.

Keeping your name unique would be a plus with me. Not a big complaint either way but it was just a thought I had and wondered what the general consensus of the group is?

case in point this name

I don’t care if they’re used, I won’t use them though. I’ll re-use the same name, but only if the character is the same gender/class/race, otherwise re-using the name never feels right

Same.

We didn’t really see those come up until TBC or at least until they added alternate character sets for other languages. But on English Language servers, they should block Alt characters from names. (Obviously not on languages that use those characters for words).

Wow. Both “alt” and “character” have a different meaning than I originally though when I first entered here. Thought I’d gotten into the wine early.

Carry on.

I had brought this question up a while ago because of one character I have who’s name has 1 letter more than 3 times in a row in it. The consensus in that thread was that they weren’t allowed in Vanilla, so they won’t be allowed on Classic. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of naming rules they decide to go with.
