I’ve played both Herald of the Sun and Templar, and they’re both pretty fun for ret.
Herald relies on DoTs and more little damage, and Templar revolves around using a huge hammer to deal big burst.

that… actually DID help quite a bit! says they’re both pretty similar for content, but herald is slightly better.
…also, i find it kinda funny that as soon as i picked one, there’s a little window saying “Don’t worry, you’ll learn all these talents by level 80.” so… that gave me a little chuckle.
Both are fun. I’m partial to Herald myself, but I wouldn’t be mad at all if Templar were to become meta for some reason.

I enjoyed Templar, though right now it may or may not be bugged (we don’t know!) and allowing for multiple uses of Hammer of Light in one proc period
