Only a few weeks into the expansion and I’m already burnt out. There isn’t really anything to work toward. Right back to the endless grind of trying to replace gear with other gear. PvE got boring after a couple runs. I’m not finding any depth to the game. It’s monotonous and boring. PvP is busted beyond belief. My spec is at the bottom of the heap for both.
This isn’t one of those threads threatening to quit. Just saying what I have to say.
I’m not saying this to sound rude, but hasn’t the game sorta always been grinding to replace gear with other gear? From a PvE standpoint, anyway
Hey man, plenty of us feel this way. Take a break and wait for the next patch. No sense in playing something you’re not enjoying.

Our odds have been reduced pretty significantly. The payouts for time sunk isn’t inspiring.
With all the insane time gating on convoluted content with no point to it, this xpac quickly becomes boring indeed.
I’m fairly easy to entertain, but I need goals to work toward. Not finding that in Shadowlands. Hell, I chose to clean my garage today over playing WoW.
Professions - Boring. No “really good” single slots makable with professions. An Alchemy trinket to increase effectiveness of potions and flasks has been a WoW staple for many years. Now the best it gets is garbage. Same with others as well.
Command Table - Incessantly boring. Click a few buttons every few hours. Whoopeee!
Covenants - Completely unbalanced, so I’m stuck in a covenant I can’t stand because the one I want is the worst possible choice for my class. Not even just a min-max thing. The different between the two is oceans apart.
Legendaries - I don’t know about other classes, but BM Hunter legendaries are laughable. Why even call them legendaries? The best available is clunky and stupid. It completely changes the playstyle of the class.
^^ Covenants and Legendaries - Also make it difficult to play multiple specs. They really went out of their way to pigeonhole us into specific specs.
Torghast - I was expecting great things. Instead I get a simple solo dungeon that is only used to farm soul ash. No loot? Nothing special at all? What could have been an amazing feature is now just a boring slugfest. Island Expeditions allowed me to collect dubloons and work toward seveal mounts, pets and toys.
The Maw - Just ANNOYING. Once again just collecting Stygia and rep, so at some point in the future I can put sockets on a few pieces of gear. The Hunts are bugged constantly. The world quests are monotonous and simple.
Raiding - Impressive for the first couple weeks, but then just became mundane.
Dungeons - Mind numbing and pretty sure keys are broken. No exaggeration, everyone in my Mythic+ group gets either Sanguine Depths or Halls of Atonement at least 80% of the time. Why? Is it busted or is there a reason?
PvP - Absolutely beyond busted. Didn’t Blizzard once say they would never go back to burst fest arenas? I’ve never seen balance this bad either. We’ve got a few classes that can burst down other players within a couple seconds.
Mount Farming - So many possibilities and they chose the stupidest, ugliest mounts imaginable. Sure, there are a few cool or pretty mounts, but they’re also easy to get. Give me something unique to work toward, not reskins of the same boring mounts. Why isn’t the stagecoach from Revendreth a mount?
Yeah even when managing all covenants on 4 separate toons, I admit I’m finding less things to do each day with all the timegating.
It could be combination of the game and yourself. I think this expansion has made us question what we’re really doing in this game.
They made this expansion a weekly grind.
It’s also the case that people change and they will come to the point they don’t enjoy the grind anymore. The grind that has always been and always will be WoW.
I will say that my biggest issue in this expansion is that I’m falling behind on my alts and I’ve lost motivation to play them. Completely.
In BFA I’d make an alt and I didn’t feel I needed to grind Azerite Power except through world quests.
Why did Blizzard make Renown a thing that’s not tied to World Quests? That alone would be miles better for satisfaction for me and my alts trying to do Covenant Content.
Weekly caps should exist for instanced content. Something like Torghast is a little ok-ish. As long as we can get Soul Ash from other sources in less amounts that are good for alts I’m fine with it. Which is a problem.
The renown system is not alt-friendly.

I must admit that even I am starting to feel the burn. I looked at my three level 60s, and the Callings there for them to do and thought…I just can’t do it. I cannot do another day of going back and doing the same things over and over.
So I’ve decided to forget the Callings for a while and do other stuff. I’m not a high level raider or Mythic+ player so whatever level my Renown is, it isn’t all that important. I’ll figure out other things to do and try and find the fun.
But if this is what the rest of the expansion is going to be, I’m starting to feel a bit underwhelmed.
I feel you there. Yesterday’s calling was Torghast. I already cleared Layer 8 in both wings this week, so I had to go back and clear an entire ‘dungeon’ for the reward of a little rep and some vendor greys. No loot from Torghast. Already got the Soul Ash this week. When I saw that was the calling, I hit alt+f4 and cleaned my garage.
the game has always been a little grindy, and gear has most always been an endless treadmill, but the content has never been this meh
with scaling being all messed up there is little reason to chill outside SL

As a casual this expansion just won’t interest me. These past few weeks I have gotten some renown levels and that’s it (I don’t care to do end game I will just play other games)

2k gold for maybe 15-20 minutes of running around. best gold per hour i’ve been able to find outside of the AH hustle.
I’ve no intentions of quitting the game myself not much of a raider as I used to be but then again that’s just me. What’s funny is I had dusted off my old copy of Diablo 2 and started that up again I’ve forgotten how awesome the sorceress teleport was going through area’s and dungeons lol.
I wonder how twisting corridors will do for the game since their systems are mostly timegated and even the story is timegated… will that carrot be enough?
Same… I miss legion. Even WOD felt more exciting then this (of course that be bc it was draenei themed… but still).
Why they insist to continue to shove mobile afk games into our faces is beyond me. Such a stupid thing to have in this game.
Yep, its a one and done thing for me - I have 2 60’s to maintain, this ‘new and exciting’ feature is just the opposite, I can’t wait to get in and out as quickly as possible. No reason to do anything there beyond soul ash cap.
I actually enjoy a a fair few things about this expansion, but this extreme level of time gating (especially how disjointed the story and campaigns have become because of it) and some other stuff already mentioned is personally grinding my gears a bit

Just not feeling this xpac so far. I had high hopes and liked some of the systems its just too many things locked behind renown which is time gated. The mission table was keeping my interest for a while but its been pretty rough since I rolled Kyrian.
Idk something just seems off.
I’m having fun, of course I started with SL release after returning to Everquest for 5 years… trust me you guys got it good. EQ has mostly ripped off a lot of WOW features (campaign table) recently and the game is a shell of its former self. This most recent expansion (if you can call it that) would be the equivalent of raiding Nathria for 12 months. A few friends of mine explained to me that you all will get more content in later patches. That’s pretty cool.
I’ve been playing a lot recently and maybe it’s because I’m brand new but there’s so much to do. I can imagine if you’ve got all the mounts and transmogs you want then it could seem boring but I can’t cram enough stuff into my game time here.
