Ok guys, so Fire Mages got a “fix” some days ago where Blizzard gave them Phoenix Flames baseline again. For those that do not know, it used to be part of the baseline toolkit due to artifacts (as baseline as that can be), but was moved to a talent option in BfA, which was a bad move. Ignite used to be spread by Fire Blast in previous Alpha patches, but now it’s Phoenix Flames’ job to do so. I’m talking about Mages because it’s one of the other classes that I like playing, but apparently Shamans also got some really nice things recently.
What this means is that there’s still hope for some seriously meaningful changes for us too. Blizzard could make First Blood baseline, or even Demonic as far as Alpha changes go. But for this to happen, we need to provide more feedback in this direction. Currently the Demon Hunter forums on Alpha are almost deserted, with the least amount of replies among all other class forums and the last one happening 17 days ago.
Unfortunately I do not have access to Alpha yet, so I can’t really make much noice there. I don’t know if there are people here that have Alpha access and frequent this forum often, but if there are, I ask you guys to go and provide some more feedback on the Alpha forums. We have the chance to change our class’ design to a better direction, so please do not let it go to waste.
This also goes for Vengeance players, of course. Fracture and Demonic being made baseline, Mastery overhaul, etc. Give feedback, guys.

I think those are a fantastic start in changing Bite/Shear (both specs) to have a small cooldown (like Fracture) in and attempt to allow gaps in the rotation, and making the playstyle less of a spam fest.
This exact change had improved Enh Shaman in Legion with having Rockbiter in the very same position, and was soon rectified as baseline.
Havoc Mastery is lacking. Low priority, and needs looking into.
Also, note in Alpha, but passionate for change on a handful of specs, including Havoc and Vengeance.

I wouldn’t hold your breath on this. As a class we have had the the least amount of blizz feedback since Legion out of any other class, its frankly bull how little communication we got even in Legion.
The thing is, this time they seem to be listening and Blizzard even reverted Shimmer from one charge back to two charges.
We need to give as much feedback as possible, but there’s just so little feedback posted in the Demon Hunter section that’s no wonder if important stuff doesn’t get addressed. We need to be more vocal so that Blizzard will make changes in our favor.

i agree with you raven but it seems not many people who have alpha access really main dh in any regards it seems, so were not represented at all in alpha or discussions on classes that need change right away. Though at least what we do have in our alpha discussion post is at least on point on things that need to be changed. I would just be happy with at least some stuff moved around and replaced with new/old talents. Best we can prob do is continue posting here in hopes they see what we want or wait til beta.
I think it’s more about giving feedback anyway, despite Alpha numbers. It doesn’t matter if things have already been said, as we’ve been shown, change is happening, and now it’s the time to voice concerns as it’s much too late when further into development.

Yeah, I figured it might also be one of the reasons why feedback on DH is so low and commented about it in another topic. Maybe people are playing other classes, maybe very vew DH mains got access to Alpha, maybe other classes getting a lot of stuff back is more attractive.
Regardless, if there are people that read this section here and have access to Alpha, I ask those to please give feedback because Blizzard seems to be going about classes in cycles, so we need as much feedback as possible when our turn comes.

Would just note that Bite spam isn’t a problem because it is almost always better to use a spender when you can than a builder. The same cannot be said for Shear though, which is in many cases preferable to cast over Soul Cleave as it returns more healing for a negligible loss of damage done.
(I also wish that Sigil of Flame did real damage, too. It remains well below even passive trait and random proc damage my VDH does, however much I try optimizing play to use it, which is a shame.)
Sure wish I had alpha access, too! Alas. I think though that VDH’s talent and resource economy problems are a lot bigger than correcting Fire Mage.

For real, Sigil of Flames should be doing several times more damage than it currently is. It’s already delayed by 2s by design for some reason, so logic mandates it should be doing a lot more as a trade-off.
SInce we are talking about Sigils, Quickened Sigils + Sigil of Chains should be baseline and Concentrated Sigils can have be substituted by a @player macro. I’d also like for Sigil of Chains to have its range increased slightly, but maybe it’ll be way too close to Gorefiend’s Grasp.
