Alpha Access

Am i the only one that things it’s ridiculous that High end raiders and streams decide class design for the next 2 years?

Nah. I think it’s a bit odd. I mean yeah a raider of high caliber would know a thing or two but so should the developers themselves. Feedback is nice and all but some players have lied about stuff before just so they could exploit it later with raid boss mechanics.

The streamers are more just “free advertisement” for the game compared to the raiders.

Fortunately those are not the only people in Alpha.

Just look at the Alpha boards. I had to wait forever to see any feedback on Shaman by a person that looks like they knew how to play the class.

I’ll take “professional” input over world quest heroes, personally.

Id rather they do it, than some LFR hero who doesn’t even know the full rotation of their class.

For some of them, knowing how to play this game is quite literally their job.

i don’t know about you but i HATE the new disc priest after wod

That’s… nice? I don’t know what that has to do with literally anything in this thread, given you were talking about alpha influence and I’m clearly not a priest.

that’s just an example outlaw, feral, mistweaver

And do you feel its the raiders and streamers fault?

I’m thinking you aren’t aware of how little the alpha and beta testers influence the ultimate design. Blizzard do what Blizzard do, maybe they listen to opinions, maybe not. Testers are pretty much only there to tell them if something’s legitimately broken or not. If Blizzard designed gameplay around player opinion, the utter abomination of WOD arms would never have happened. But it did. Because they don’t.

Streamers are free advertisement but no one gives a fudge what streamers do its a net gain investment.
Most streamers I saw made me not want to buy SL let alone play it.

Maybe I watch different streamers. Every time a put on someone’s stream to see them test things out I always saw bugs being reported.

I also dont tend to watch the “entertainment” streamers.

I agree with raiders, and well known organized pvp groups getting into Alpha. Their feedback is very valuable. Streamers on the other hand… save their invites for beta waves they really don’t need to be advertising the game already. Put more important people in there… Streamers know nothing about game design.

They need players of all types in Alpha. From top-end raiders to casual friends and family, and yes, even content creators.
I’m personally thankful for streamers and youtubers getting Alpha, because they’re voices are really loud, and they can make changes for the better because of it.

They don’t decide . they are lucky to be even heard.

Blizz has their own plan as usual

Because if they didn’t, it’d be a bottomless pit of useless white noise and garbage. Just like this forum. Or the class forums.

If they actually got to design stuff, the universally disliked GCD changes wouldnt have gone live with BfA, let alone stayed all expansion and continued forward into Shadowlands.

Blizz is gonna do what they want to do regardless of feedback, best we can hope for is they make minor quality of life changes to whatever they want to do, like how they made eclipse not random in a recent alpha build.
