Almost 20 Years Now, And We Still Don't Have

Uh, yes?

That’s why I posted this thread, lol.

Oh wait, excuse me, I must have imagined it all. I totally didn’t kill a rare and then spend the next 5 minutes walking 500+ yards around a giant hill on my way to my next questing area. /sarcasm

If I could just track or even see what the thing aggroing me and putting me in combat is it would make this issue so much easier to deal with.

While I understand that the game is old with lots of coding manipulated throughout the years/expansions etc., they could take a page from some other games. Some games have a UI element that tracks what is aggroed to you.

In SWToR, a little red dot followed by the Mobs name shows up on your UI and a red dot also shows up on your minimap. with this, you can immediately know “Oh, I’ve upset ʻPsyhotic Tauntaunʻ and it’s somewhere to the left of me.”

IDK if playing with nameplate setting could do something as well. Make is so that if you have aggro a nameplate could show over the critter/NPC.

In my opinion a bug that’s worse than the “still in combat” bug is tab targeting. Jeez, this has been broken nearly as long as that! How is it you can have 5 things beating on you and you tab target and it will select a mob 50 yards away around a corner?

Yes and there were people who were exploiting that as you cannot regain mana much during combat or mount up so some people would get you into combat, and then with an exploit they would log out, but you would still stay in combat and they logged out mostly damage but could then log back in out of combat and could fly off, drink water and heal back to 100% and kill you. An exploit for which no one was ever banned for. Finally it was fixed.

I mean, using your hearthstone will fix it, no?

But that’s besides the point, is it really gamebreaking?

whenever i see people claiming this never happens, i know they don’t play a monk

I think it got worse with that new targeting crap they added. lol.
I never had trouble with my macros…

/cleartarget
/targetenemy

…until they put the targeting thing in a while back. Now my macros will just go stupid and not target anything, leaving me to have to use the keybind to target nearest enemy.

Im sure they meant well, but whatever they did made it erratic and even worse than just leaving it like it was

Don’t feel bad, FFXIV has the exact same targeting woes and it rather stinks, especially if you happen to be a tank in a dungeon.

It’s like, no, I don’t want to target everything except for the stuff fighting me, I wanna target the thing right in front of me, thanks.

And my personal favorite… “huge tall boss that’s halfway off the screen but yet I’m standing close enough to touch its targeting circle, tab refuses to pick the target up and I have to manually click it”.

It’s like MMOs in general have problems handling targeting, it’s not just a WoW thing.

I couldn’t agree more with you OP. It is EASILY the worst aspect of WoW’s PvE. God forbid you play a class like Death Knight, too, you will not be able to go on a mount for ages.

It’s just time for this crap to go. Either put in some serious effort to fix this bug or allow us to break aggro on all classes/races somehow. Possibly an item or command that has a cooldown and functions like meld but without the invis
