I think this would be the most straightforward way to add the spellbreaker-style character as a playable class. Night elf huntresses and blood elf spellbreakers both use a 1h glaive and shield combo, and have been represented in warcraft lore since wc3.
This may also go a long way towards helping demon hunter tanks, which are currently seen as bottom tier due to spiky and inconsistent damage mitigation. The extra armor value and ability to block would help toughen them up some
Sarcasm aside, how often do you actually see vengeance spec being used? 95% of demon hunters are running around as havoc. Vengeance, if anything, is severely underpowered right now, to the point that nobody even wants them tanking dungeon runs or raids.
Besides, I hate seeing tanks that dont use shields, and we have more tanks that dont use them than those who do right now
An evasion/avoidance tank is actually another tanking style I’ve seen in similar games. DHs definitely needs some form of a tune.
Though it makes me wonder if those Veng DHs you came across are gearing for dps or survival . I’ve experimented with both and felt such a difference.
I could support this as long as DKs can get shields too. I have so many cool DK themed shield mogs that just don’t work on my paladins or even my warriors.
vengeance dhs are in a bad place right now actually, really bad in M+. Don’t confuse havoc having a lot going for it for vengeance, 2 diff specs…2 different balances.
actually… let them use TWO SHIELDS because the last the they were not prepared. but this time… THIS TIME they will put all their stats into DEFENSE ;D
It is amazingly lore appropriate and aesthetically awesome that a fighter using magic and quick movements, on top of flight and quick reflex to use a shield. Might even dual shield, using it like glaives. Makes total sense. lol
