Allow us to do dungeons and raid with Opposite faction?

I have never had this issue when playing WoW in the many years I’ve played it, so this isn’t an issue for me. I enjoy not having filthy orcs in my groups.

I do have a reasonable basis, you just don’t like it.

I feel like a lot of the posters in this thread are the types that get angry at people when they meet someone and they tell them they play the opposite faction.

I didn’t have to join a faction? What?

Also I didn’t know that I was going to be separated from interacting with half the playerbase no matter which faction I picked. The game never explains that, or the reasoning for it.

You didn’t have to buy the game is my point. And if you honestly picked up this game and you didn’t know that it was horde vs alliance then I don’t even know what to say to you.

When I started playing Star Wars the Old Republic as a Sith I sure didn’t think I would be playing with Jedi.

Really? what importance one expansion were buddy’s next were enemy’s next were working together , faction importance ended 10 years ago…

Again, I knew it was horde vs alliance.

I didn’t know that the factions literally couldn’t even talk/interact/group together. It’s counter-intuitive to what an MMO is supposed to be about.

Again, that’s your opinion.

I agree overall with what you’re saying here Ythisens, but, shouldn’t the choice be with the player similar to how the Mercenary system worked in Warlords of Draenor?

For example, let’s say I am a player who values queue times more than ‘faction theme’ because I want to get into a dungeon or LFR raid quickly. I could ‘theoretically’, if a mercenary system for dungeons/LFR existed, set up my character so that they are in both the Alliance dungeon/raid pool and the Horde dungeon/raid pool which drastically increases the number of possible group matches I have. Which ‘in general’ is already a good thing, but extremely valuable to players who may be on server groups dominated by the opposite faction to them.

And since you already have the technology within dungeons and raids to permanently throw illusions on player characters to make them look like a different race (which you use heavily in the Caverns of Time dungeons that take us into Warcraft history and in the Mercenary system), that technology could be easily used in this case to turn Alliance players into their Horde racial equivalents and vice versa.

Your overall aesthetic remains the same. All Horde or all Alliance, no mixed factions in the dungeon/raid but, the option to expand potential group options is there for those who want them.

Almost as weird and walking around dalaran hugging my enemy the Horde and getting a hug back or a wave … ah! War suck a finite thing

Except that’s not really true. The same shortages exist on both sides. There’s a shortage of tanks and healers and an abundance of DPS. If you put the horde and alliance together for grouping, you’re still going to have an abundance of DPS and a shortage of tanks and heals.

All you really did was increase the total number of people.

It only happens in cut-scenes. Best example is the early assault in Legion. Alliance fights it way through seemingly endless mobs, finally confronting Gul’dan. [Start cut-scene, eventually panning to Sylvanas’ archers on the bluffs above, taking the fight to the airborne threat, then withdrawing and leaving the battlefield. Varian dies, the Alliance gunship sails away. End cut-scene, end joint Alliance/Horde assault.] Same thing plays out on the Horde side until the cut-scene showing the Alliance down below squaring off against Guldan.

There has (to my knowledge) NEVER been a time in-game where Alliance players and Horde players were fighting side-by-side against a common foe. Fighting separately for a common goal? Yes. Fighting side-by-side? No.

New forums and Aehl still using broken quotes.
Didn’t even reply to the poster they are quoting/addressing.
Amazing effort.

I have mixed feelings about this, because there’s plenty of groups in-game shown to get along fine despite their racial makeup:

Pirates, the Darkmoon Faire, the Twilight’s Hammer, the Scourge, the Venture Co., Sergeant Bly’s mercenaries in Zul’Farrak…

I know we’re not playing any of those groups, that our characters are supposed to be champions of the Alliance and Horde, but even then we’ve seen plenty of times where the two superpowers come together to battle a worse foe.

Let war mode be where our sides kill each other, and let us party and talk to one another outside of it. Oftentimes our raids have nothing to do with faction conflicts, and when they do you could activate mercenary mode for mixed groups and have the raid leader pick a side to play as.

Why thank you, I try.

Glad to see that you havent changed :frowning:

Once for certain that I know of: the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj event. Alliance and Horde cooperated to create materials needed to enable the event to occur and then fought together during the event.

I note there is a possibility of this event happening on the Classic server. If so, I’ll be there with bells on :star_struck:

Well, considering how they are able to rise ANY dead, regardless of race, it should be an exclusive ‘undead/forsaken’ faction class, just like DH are exclusive to the elf race but applied as a faction.

I would love to run dungeons with my friends who faction transferred, but noooope that’s too outlandish for Warcraft! They sit on my friends list, we can’t do things together, and don’t talk anymore because of it. I wouldn’t mind at all running with the opposite faction. I would transfer but it costs too much for all my toons and I dislike the horde aesthetic of caveman.

I mean, can’t there be a system at least for that problem? A temporary truce, or something like they do for PvP where you can queue as the opposite faction? I don’t think that would take away from the team at blizz trying to force a segregation between two factions who don’t really mind if they even work together. I think that wall was torn down when the lore side of things started mixing horde/alliance together anyway and they’ve been trying to fix it I guess. You guys are the ones who blurred the lines and took away the feeling of war between the factions.

Getting back at it tho in BfA I hope

Not sure why that quote was attributed to me. Guess it’s a weird quirk of the quote feature now.

Ehh I don’t personally think theres a point in factions any more. Well let me be more clear, there is and should always be 2, but any race should be free to join the horde or alliance. If an orc supports Anduin or a human supports Sylvanas, then let them fulfill that character fantasy.

Unpopular opinion but let’s face it. The faction war as a PvP mechanic is a relic of classic WoW and brings nothing good to the game outside of separating the player base. It’s there “because it’s Warcraft” but so are the warfronts and I don’t think they’re going to come over 9.0.

After all our characters have accomplished I think they deserve to be more than Alliance or Horde grunts and make their own alliances. Battlegrounds, warfronts and war mode should be the only place where faction counts.
