Allow Players to Upgrade Item Tracks w/ Nascent Crests

It would be great to be able to upgrade gear tracks by using the Nascent Crests that are used for crafted gear. It would act as a form of bad-luck protection for certain difficult to obtain items like weapons and trinkets.

It would still cost 90 Gilded Crests to go from Champion to Hero so it’s not like it would be exploited because of the weekly/seasonal cap. You could even make it so we have to upgrade the item to 8/8 before trying to upgrade tracks. This would mean you can’t just get the item from a M+2 and upgrade it immediately without first spending valorstones and crests to make max it out on the current track first.

It sucks for people right now who are spamming one dungeon 50+ times for a drop.

Then they have to actually just wait out their great vault luck (bad luck) to get the item on myth track.

I support this 100%. Give me an option to upgrade all my gear to myth track through increased crest costs.

Allowing you to upgrade tracks would defeat the whole point of the crest system. You shouldn’t be able to do a +2 and upgrade it to myth track BiS gear. If you want the best version of an item, you’re going to have to do the hardest version of the content that drops it.

How so when it’s stated in the OP that you would have to:

  1. Max out the +2 Champion gear all the way to 8/8 with 120 Harbinger Crests
  2. Then use (I think it’s) 45 Harbinger Crests to upgrade it to Hero 1/8
  3. Max out the Hero 1/8 to 8/8 which would use another 60 Harbinger + 60 Gilded
  4. Then use 90 Gilded Crests to upgrade to Myth (Like you would already do for 636 crafted gear)

I think it’s clear that you don’t understand what’s being asked.

I do understand what they want. They want to farm an item in a +2, then vomit a bunch of various crests into it and get a max myth track BiS item. The tracks are there so that you can’t do that. That was similar to how DF S1 worked and it was super dumb then too, hence why Blizzard added the tracks and crests in S2.

You would still need to farm key levels to get Gilded Crests which are +8s. It’s not like they would be able to farm +2s only. They could even make the track upgrades stop at Hero and not go all the way to Myth.

Not even remotely close to what I proposed.

Which don’t give myth track items, even from the vault, so why should you be able to get a myth track item by doing them?

Or they just don’t do it at all because it’s the whole point of the crest and track system.

DF S1: Farm an item on +2 keys, then pump valor points into it to get your max ilvl BiS item
The OP: Farm an item on +2 keys, then pump crests into it to get your max ilvl BiS item

Sounds similar to me.

How are they remotely similar when in DF S1 you farmed +2s and only +2s whereas what I proposed requires you to get crests from the level of content it would be dropped in?

That’s essentially what happened during S1 of SL with the Valor system and… it worked

It worked so well they created the crest system in DF S2.

Hilariously inbred take lol.

Pound for pound, the best sub rogue trinket this season is a world quest item that caps out at ilvl 626 from delve vaults. At max hero track, it easily outsims all 639 dungeon trinkets in DSlice, and is only behind one or two of the 639 raid trinkets. This great item literally doesn’t exist in the mythic track. What the hell am I supposed to do?

They created the Crest system purely because the Valor system was not NEW like every other thing in that expansion…
