Allow gold buying, but have a separate economy for characters that don't

Alright, so I know that people will always buy gold. Either through tokens or third parties. I don’t claim to know if Blizzard is doing enough to stop it or if it’s just too difficult, but I’d be okay with the below solution.

I want a separate economy for characters that participate in gold buying and those that don’t. Blizzard can sell tokens, your character can convert to a “gold buyer” if you buy one, but as soon as it does, you can no longer trade with standard characters or use the same auction house (or anything else that affects the standard economy). You’ll essentially be in the “gold buyer” economy going forward. Obviously, if you have other characters in the standard economy, you can no longer trade between them either.

I get people don’t want to grind, but I don’t want a system where people will buy gold anyways, not get punished, pretend they earned everything on their account, and also ruin the economy for other players. It’d be sorta like a self-found mode for us folks that care about progression and keeping real money out of the game. I’d expect players to have a mix of gold buying and non-gold buying characters.

This destroyed Wrath Classic instantly; lets not make that mistake again.

Ah, I wasn’t playing back then, but I am surprised as I figured most of the same people would’ve just bought from third parties anyways. I guess there’s a lot more to lose with them. I probably wouldn’t want to risk an old account getting banned.

They just need to destroy the buyers with permanent battle net bans. No matter how little they buy it should always reward a perma ban of that full battle.net and all associated accounts and games.

Doing this just a few times destroys the market.

The fear of bans from GDKP was enough to kill it, while only 1 or 2 actual actions went out, and they were slaps on the wrist.

You perma-nuke 20 people and gold buying dies from the fear alone.

Era exists already

Yup, its not a terribly hard concept… Tho I think blizzard intentionally does nothing to drive the players to the next new thing.

I would support this IF I trusted them to not perma ban people for false positives. I don’t want to be in fear of a perma ban if I borrow or lend large chunks of gold or do a gdkp. I have zero trust people won’t get falsely banned

As someone who was falsely perma’d in TBC Classic, and then had it overturned because every GM and their AI mom knew it was BS, I agree.

Wrath destroyed wrath. People realized that it was not the Best expansión, nothing to do with wow token.

Was legion crap because of wow token added as battle net balance? No.

Anniversary doesnt have token and it’s destroyed, it’s a rmt fest and You guys try yo convince someone that it’s the Anti rmt versión of the Game because gdkp is banned, lol.

You don’t have any proof that gold buyers are not perma banned outside of a streamer with streamer beneficts.

I already knew that before it launched.

Absolutely not.

No.
