Allow free realm transfers for classic era

There’s no reason why realm transfers should still cost the full amount considering how badly Blizzard has screwed up Classic Era and even screwed up little things like proper realm connections.

Blizzard has done free transfers to fix realm population problems in the past, if Blizzard won’t merge servers properly then at least give free transfers and remove transfer restrictions like PvE to PvP so that the people that want to play Classic Era can at least coordinate to fix the problem ourselves.

There is one reason: Blizz doesn’t make any money from free.

well pve to pvp was brought in during TBC and they are not talking about doing it in TBC yet which should be first

How badly? Mind sharing what’s going on?

No one cares you retail Blizzard shill

Blizzard offered free transfers numerous times in classic to fix realm problems they themselves created, it’s not out of the ordinary to ask them to do it again.

I don’t care what you think is good for Blizzard’s bottom line.

You want to point out where I was advocating for that, friend?

There’s enough people to create at least a low-medium pop classic era server but we’re scattered across numerous connected realms and some realms that weren’t even connected at all.

People are already dissuaded from Classic Era because of the clone cost but expecting people to pay an additional full cost to transfer to the one series of connected realms that are maybe not so bad is just another obstacle keeping people from playing Classic Era.

If they at least offered free transfers so we could all congregate on one server we’d be able to at least show that Classic Era is still at the very least playable. There’s enough people on the Classic Era discord to make that happen.

Yeah, that makes sense. I have been slow to actually make choices for what to do with most of my characters. I had gotten my war/pal ready for TBC Classic, so that’s where I’ve brought them, but all the others are in limbo atm.

I did create a level 1 to check out chat in Classic Era. I had been under the impression that chat, trades, grouping, raiding, guilds were all cross realm now, with the exceptions of East/West, PVP/PVE, and of course RP realms not being connected at all.

Is that not the case?

Yeah that stuff is cross realm across connected servers but the connected servers don’t go far enough and as other people have previously said they should’ve just server merged to 2-4 servers.

To be honest I think most people on classic era would just prefer to all transfer to one or maybe two servers instead of all this cross-realm stuff anyways.

It’s clear that Blizzard isn’t gonna server merge anytime soon but they could at least offer free server transfers so we can fix the problem ourselves before the point where classic era is never able to recover.

I’d prefer that too. I kind of feel like some people might complain about losing names, but that’s something I’d be willing to live with, personally.

And yeah, even if the cross-realm stuff is effectively the same, it isn’t actually the same as a server merge.

Hmm… good luck! I guess it’ll be up to whoever really wants Classic Era to work to make some effort to advertise, promote, and recruit for whatever activities they’d like to do. I could see a lot of people raid logging for a Sunday Naxx, for example, but then who knows how reliable that’d be.

Anyway, the whole “Choose or pay” thing kind of sucks, imo. What I personally wanted was to be able to stay in Classic for as long as I would like on any character, previously made or newly made, and then be able to upgrade to TBC if/when I wanted. And no clones.

But … people wanted clones.

He makes a valid point.

Not really, Blizzard is already making out of subs. If they don’t give free transfers people will un-sub. As the King of DD I’m being patient right now but I’m not going to stay alone on my server for long.

Please don’t ignore Classic servers :frowning: Free Transfers please

Blizzard did not create the population drain, yes it is an issue they have to address, but they didn’t create it. All they did was offer TBC, and the majority of the population moved over to it. They can’t really control what version of the game players want to play.

Forcefully progressing current servers to TBC when the premise of classic was supposed to be classic, is their responsibility and an issue they created.

A lot of people still think they should’ve just done fresh TBC servers and given people the opportunity to transfer their current characters to them when they were ready and/or willing or pay for a clone on a fresh TBC server instead of the inverse.

Even when all is said and done, they could’ve at least managed classic era servers properly like everyone asked them to. They should’ve just merged classic era servers instead of this connected realms BS.

They in fact DID NOT force progression on any servers, they offered a choice. Personally, I think they SHOULD have forced the progression like they did in the original patch. So basically you upset that they didn’t offer the transfer the way YOU wanted it. Sorry, they don’t have to do that.

Kind of curious if you would have the same sentiment if most had stayed in Classic, or if you would be laughing at the TBC people that moved to dead servers saying “see, no one wanted TBC” ? Yeah I believe they will do merges in like a month is my guess, maybe 2. But right or wrong, Blizzard is a for profit business. They will do what is good for their bottom line and the shareholders.

In their own words, they forcefully progressed the current servers to be progression realms and move to TBC… did you even read what they said regarding realms before the partition? They straight up said Classic Era realms would effectively be new servers

Obviously it’s hopeless to argue this with people who don’t even know why classic was even released in the first place, nor am I going to argue business on a gaming forum

All I know is Vanilla private servers are coming back so Blizzard can cry all about their stolen IP and business losses for years to come.
