as the years go on, and with bigger and bigger and especially wider and wider monitors since 2004 when WoW began, i find the lack of customizable UI elements to be annoying.
While I know there may exist addons to move certain elements of the UI (i.e. bartender for the action bars), often these addons do more than just allow you to move elements but also change their appearance (which I don’t want), and overall just wish Blizzard to allow players to move things natively as apart of the UI customization options.
Having started wow with a 720p 24 inch, then a 1080p 27 inch, and finally upgrading to a 34 inch 1440p some months back, I find elements such as the minimap locked and unable to be moved in the top right corner to be an annoyance as a hunter as since upgrading from a 27 to a 34 with a resolution jump caused the minimap to not be clear view when looking at the center of my screen…
So for example, often I’ll track a horde on my minimap who’s flying around, so then when they stop and I see they are low enough to be netted (dismounted), I’ll take my eyes off the minimap to see where I am landing (especially if in an area with lots of obstacles, trees, etc), but in that short time I took my eyes off my minimap, sometimes the horde will have moved during that instant, and as a result I didn’t see which direction they went and they get away. This wasn’t an issue I experienced with smaller monitors.
I expect this to get even worse as I do have plans to soon go ultrawide 32:9 (eye on a Samsung CRG9), as I imagine with an ultrawide monitor if the minimap will be furtner crammed all the way into the far corner.
