During phase 4 I was a mainly DPS rogue and picked up the Onxyia Tooth Pendant as my quest reward upon getting my turn in. Shortly, after that I began having to tank more and more for my guild which I was fine with. It sucked that I had not taken the trinket as if I had known I would be tanking in the future I would have as there are alternative necklaces I could run for DPS, but there aren’t really alternative tank trinkets for rogues.
With Phase 5 coming I presumed that a new tank trinket would be added that rogues could utilize and it would be fine and I could wait for that, while I just ran my DPS trinkets for tanking. Well come Phase 5 and I was sorely disappointed as there were three tank trinkets added. The Heart of Hakkar trinket which only provides a 20 second tank buff, but no other stats which is at least something, Styleens which unless you have block is mostly useless, and Soul of Thunder which looks to be for AQ in the future and has no current uses or to be used in PVP.
As of Phase 5 there are basically the following tank trinkets:
Styleen’s Impending Scarab (requires block to be useful)
Broodmother’s Brooch (requires the ability to block to do anything)
Essence of the Pure Flame (which requires you to be hit | IE rogues want to dodge and parry most damage so it won’t trigger much)
Onyxia Brood Talisman (very good rogue trinket, but if you didn’t pick it you are out of luck)
Zandalarian Hero Badge (this more functions as a dps trinket for tank rogues as the goal is to not be hit, so the armor doesn’t help that much and you more use it for the 120 attack power you get for 20 seconds)
Soul of Thunder (future tank trinket for a raid or PVP trinket)
Technically there is also the Sunken Temple Trinket (worse version of ZG trinket), and Gnomer Trinket (which is an even worse version of the ZG trinket)
I know I am not the only Rogue and have spoken to many who are in the same position as me picking up the DPS necklace and then later getting into tanking and now being left with no real tank trinket options. Please add a way to get the Onyxia Brood Talisman if you chose one of the other options or at least add an option to transform one of the many Block trinkets into a dodge/parry version.
